This is a beta driver that addresses the following issues:

  • GeForce GTX 980 displays texture shimmering when Texture Filtering Quality set to High Quality.
  • GPU outputs fuzzy lines over DisplayPort after a period of time following driver updates.
  • System hang up and black screen after power on with some monitors (DP1.2 & 4K/60Hz) + GTX980

So this should fix my issue with my whole system hard locking? I got a pair of 980s in my machine and warframe would always hard lock the system or flip out and I can see my desktop but the game is still going and some other weirdness since putting in the new cards.

My card's bios is of version 84.04.1F.00.86.  GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 (04G-P4-2983-KR)
I don't have 4K display but Dell 27" U2715H, 2560x1440. I tried to connect my old HP Z24RW display through the second DP-port of Dell display by using daisy chain (requires DP 1.2 MST set on) but Dell went black totally and informed that there is no signal through DP input (mDP and full DP both). Only by using HDMI port display worked when DP1.2 was selected.
I have installed hot fix i.e. 344.80 drivers, custom install method. Disconnecting HP did not help. Rebooting PC did'nt help.

The above problem is solved now with new DP cable. Drivers 347.09 didn't help. I had used the "old" DP-cable which I bought about two years ago. Was too lazy to change it to the cable which came with the Dell monitor.
:(
Should have known better. Now DP1.2 works fine. Have to try daisy-chaining my old monitor next.
There really should be some marking on the cable stating the compatibility with the DP-version(s).

Here is my post on Nvidia's forum with my experience with the beta drivers and the current ones with the 980. Oddly enough this didn't happen at all with my 970 FTW.

"Sadly I still have the issue as well, 344.80 drivers didn't work it actually made the problem worse. If i use the 344.80 drivers the displayport connection stays totally blank and I have to unplug the power then plug it back in. The 347.09 driver works but it blanks out the display right after the windows 8 logo and then comes back within 3-4 seconds.

Oddly enough the display problem seems to happens slightly with using HDMI as well.

Monitor: Asus PB278Q
MB: Asus Maximus Gene VII BIOS 2013 (latest)
(if I disable the S4+S5 ERP power savings the display doesn't become blank the entire time with the 344.80 drivers, however the 3-4 second blank delay still occurs)

CPU: Intel i7 4790k @ 4.8Ghz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vegenance
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 850 G2

does EVGA have any industry insight regarding Nvidia's drivers and this issue?
