Well i just installed my gtx 980 hybrid....... its a bunk card :( the pump/fan has no power and hit 60c plus in a matter of minutes.  already have a standard cross ship rma in process!!!! keep yall updated!

Keep us posted, you seem to be the first one to have an issue with your card.
You did run the fan on the Radiator Correct? I have seen users ask if they can run this card without a fan.

Yes alls i did was install the card, mount the rad and fan in a push config, plug the power supply in, boot the system. the first tthing i noticed was the fan on the radiator didnt even bother to try to spin. and yes i double checked all connections more than 3 times.

How did you power the ONE fan on the radiator?
And what Fan did you install? ORG.

Did you look to see if the Blower Fan was running?
Did you also have both PCIe Power Connectors connected?
What is the Size of your PSU and how old is it, what is the make and model?

i think either i misinformed you or misunderstood.  i have only the original fan included connected thru the power on the card itself.

Did you disconnect the fan cable to see if maybe a pin was bent and not making contact.
I cannot hear my pumps so not sure how we would know if they are even running.
I can turn of my radiator fans and it get hot fast without a fan, did you connect the fan to a different Power source to see if it may only of been the fan?
Well I hope your new card is ok, you will like it.

Then you might want to ask NVIDIA for a game code as they are the ones that are doing the codes so really you should be "extremely disappointed" with NVIDIA and not EVGA. You also could buy a second card to get your free game codes.

The last time I bought a card, my codes came from EVGA.
I got more add-on value from a $170 650Ti Boost superclocked, than this $650 card. And every top end card I purchased before this came with at least 2 games.

Technically it can fit on more cards, but the problem is the shroud.

 change of question..

or comment....I hope that you do something like this for Pascal when it's released. Since that's when I'll be purchasing my next card! ;)

Corsair Obsidian 800D
Asrock X99X Killer 3.1
Intel 5930K
Corsair H100i GTX
Samsung Pro 950 512GB SSD (boot drive)
Nvidia GTX 1080 (Will be changing for an eVGA as soon as I can)
Corsair AX1200W
16GB Ballistix DDR4 2400
LG Blu-ray burner WH10LS30K
Lite-On Blu-ray ROM 401S

Correct you do get the code from where you buy the card from.
So if you got the card from EVGA you get the code from EVGA if you got the card from Newegg you would get the Code from Newegg.
But EVGA nor Newegg is the sponsor of the Game Codes it is NVIDIA. See http://www.geforce.com/ Current: http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/batman-arkham-knight-the-witcher-3-wild-hunt-nvidia-geforce-gtx-bundle

Can someone clarify what the difference is between this card and the Classified other than the radiator system?
The spec speeds are the same.  Is the Classified more overclockable?

That depend of silicon lottery, probably for out of box condition is colder and better for OC Hybrid version, but for waterblock and LN2 is definitely better Classified.
If you compare PCB you will see obviously bigger and richer PCB and better VRM. But GM204 graphic processor is final judge.

Is that more or less then the cost of a 980 and the kit?

**UPDATE** This was caused by using a second gpu (evga gtx 650ti boost superclocked) as a dedicated physX card.

so my card is doing some pretty crazy stuff. I'm using 352.86
It only does this when I turn on FXAA higher than MSAA2x
The 2nd image is ultra with TXAA2x

Ok I got my GTX 980 Hybrid in today and installed it into my Cooltek UMX-1 Plus Mini-ITX case.  Had to do some serious shoehorning to get everything to fit.  My only complaint so far is the pump on GTX 980 Hybrid isn't as quiet as I had hoped.  There is a slight clicking noise coming from it.  Gonna have to see if I can wire the pump directly into one of the motherboard PWM connectors and see if I can turn the pump speed down a tad.

I find it amazing that you got all that in there.  Very impressive.

Re: GeForce GTX 980 HYBRID! 2015/05/27 23:21:42 (permalink)
I'm using a Kraken G10 with an X31 AIO (two each) on my SLI 780Ti's.  It's fantastic except the design of the G10 isn't optimal for VRM cooling.  I installed copper heat sinks on the VRMs and it seems to be working ok.  I would instantly buy a couple EVGA shrouds, but I don't need the cooler.

The other thing to be careful about is the tubing length.  I've read here that the tubes are 14" on the AIO.  On the NZXT they are 16".  I have a NZXT Phantom 820 case, and it would be much more difficult with 14" tubing.  I have the radiators mounted on the bottom of the case, side by side and it's a fantastic setup.  The NZXT fans are also very quiet.  I just don't get why we can't get longer tubing in AIO coolers.  I suspect it's a cost saving issue since the coolers are intended for CPUs and the distance to the top of the case isn't an issue.

A request for EVGA.  Thinking ahead, people who watercool their GPUs will have AIOs for a very long time.  Don't force them to buy a new AIO when they get a new video card.  Sell the shrouds so we can use the AIOs we have.  Make them as generic as possible so they can fit a wide variety of GPUs.

Anyone tried using two fans on the rad for a push/pull setup? I ordered parts to do so but wanted to see if anyone had issues using a splitter off the fan power connector.

I would not use the fan cable.  Just do a push/pull from a separate direct psu source.  Otherwise you're directly draining from the card bus and fan power tends to fluctuate erratically.

Just set up one of my 980's using a pair of SP 120s from corsair off a splitter to the card and it's been fine. But I still got to put it through some hard benching to see if everything stays in sync. It only draws 1.92 watts which is less then the default fan it comes with.

The current rumor is yes if it's a reference one. But I'd just relax till next week and wait for a real solid answer.

This is my personal opinion, but I have just about zero doubt that these cards are already done and waiting to be shipped with all of the mods already done as soon as it is officially announced.

Let's hope so, that way I can just grab a pen and write "Ti" next to the 980 on my existing shroud, haha. (would be cool if we could get legit Ti shrouds though if so.)

Just out of curiosity what is the maximum temperature for the GTX 980 Hybrid.  I know the open loop water pump on my other PC has a max rated temp of 60 degrees Celsius.  I want to tweak the fan settings as low as possible without endangering the water pump on the hybrid 980.

The official Titan X AIO is available now at EVGA store.  I picked one up, will prob get it next week sometime.

I've gotten the Titan X up to 1402MHz with a more aggressive fan profile but I'd like to take it to 1500+MHz without a lot of noise or high temps, we'll see if I get there. :)
