what's wrong with this driver and civ V? I play it too and it runs great for me, no probs. however I re-installed it recently, because lots of steam cache files were not right during verification (after some DLC or update downloaded some time ago).

Nereus

Didn't make a lot of difference for BF3 for me, but it screwed with Civilization V badly - very badly. Reverting back to previous WHQL.

Civ V was a mess on my system with 295.73 - patches flashing constantly, color palette all mixed up particularly when holding discussions with another ruler.. it was terrible. I uninstalled 295.73 and cleaned up, then installed 285.62 and immediately Civ V is playing flawlessly again. I don't know why, but that's how it is.

As I said, everything else seemed ok, including BF3.

Did you do a full clean install when you updated, or just install over the top using their clean install custom option?

I actually had exact same problems (patches flashing or missing when talking to other civs, units moving invisibly on the map, etc.) while I was running the 285 WHQL driver ... I believe it was some corrupted steam game update a while ago which screwed it up bad, not the nvidia driver. now all good here, since a few days running 295, no probs.
I installed the 295 whql in update mode, over the 285 whql.

I've also has this problem, it's becoming really annoying due to the flashing.

So far these are the best drivers for Battlefield 3 for me, followed by the 285.62 WHQL.

I second this.

Hey TahPikachu - as above, I switched back (after manually cleaning everything out from the new driver) and have played Civ V off and on all day without a single issue. I also notice threads popping up with others having issues with this new driver, so we are not alone. For those having no problems - great! For those who are, I suggest going back to the prior WHQL until an update is released. Either that, or try a manual cleaning of all traces of the driver (meaning go into reg edit - everything), and then install again.

I will reiterate that I had no problems at all with BF3 on the new driver.

BTW, This new driver removes the ability to SLI with 560 Ti models.  Just uninstalled and installed previous driver and SLI works now.

Just tried installing and I get the "not compatible with this version of windows" error. Looks like I'll be going back to the 285.62 driver. Specs below:

i7 2600k
P67 FTW
Windows 7 64-bit
GTX560ti SLI

So I ended up getting it installed shortly after finding that as Zibri noted I had downloaded 32-bit. Played a few hours of BF3 and still get the texture flickering. Tried lowering settings and still no change. Seems like this always happens on Davamand Peak, other maps hardly any issues.

These drivers work great. However, they seem compatible with every game except Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Anyone have any suggestions? I've also read that game has some serious problems. I have more than enough power to run the game.

Download driver sweeper from cnet.com and make sure you are performing a clean installation as well. Driver sweeper will get rid of driver conflicts. Make sure you disconnect your internet when updating drivers after you have the driver file downloaded....in most cases Windows 7 will automatically download drivers before you even install new ones after restart of uninstalling previous drivers. Also download Ccleaner from cnet.com and check for registry errors. Both programs are legit and I would recommend them to anyone. Good luck.

quick question. can you guys stress test GPU#2 in evga OC Scanner while running this driver? I can't, it always fires up the GPU1 ... bu then I never used this soft before, so I don't even know if it's normal or not.

I used to initially OC GPUs with other software and always in primary slot ... but it takes time to move them around...

Tad bit occasional stuttering on large maps with these new drivers in BF3 as well as occasional flickering landscape. Running SLI 560ti's Classifieds on ultra. Had no issues with 290.53. Rolling back.

I've installed these drivers and have NO issues with Deus Ex:HR. Might try doing a verify of the steam files? Also what is the game doing?

I think I may have had some sort of driver issue. I gave up on it and just upgraded from a 500gb caviar black to a crucial m4 128gb SSD and have yet to download it again via Steam. But drivers kept crashing, it worked for a decent portion of the game until blank screen/desktop crashing during gameplay would happen over and over. It may have just needed a re-download/install.

I have the same prob with SLI'd 580's in CIV5. I can disable SLI and the game is fine. But once I enable SLI the graphics are all screwed up. I'll stick with the last set of driver's as they run fine for me.

I'm really disappointed there's still no proper SLI profile for SWTOR.

And Nvidia and Bioware's refusal to acknowledge this problem, is really taking my patience and good will to its limit.

The game ran fine in beta, but ever since launch it's the same issue. Which goes exactly as another Quad SLI 590 user said in a 590 owners/enthusiast forum:

Shinobi Jedi, i'm getting crushes too. and right after crash only one of four GPUs continue to "work", other 3 sit at 0% load, 0.875v and nothing can make them work again except reboot. it happens roughly after 2-2.5 hours of playing and first symptoms are dissapearing textures

This is exactly what has been happening to me since the launch of this game. And to be clear, this didn't happen at all during the beta when Hi-Res textures were enabled.

This is the only game I have issues on. Everything else runs 120fps on full blast on every game, except the highest setting in Witcher 2 for AA. BF3, Skyrim, Batman - games with more complex graphics - all run better than SWTOR.

I have never OC'd these cards, I don't mess with voltages, they have been a dream except for SWTOR..

I'm ready to walk away from this game, and I'm not an MMO guy, but got into it as a Star Wars geek.  If BF3 wasn't running so rampant with cheaters, I would've already...

So I guess what I'm getting at is -

Jacob, can we get the EVGA SLI Enhancement Pimp-Jedi's to write us 590 owners, or any other SLI users experiencing this issue, a proper SLI profile for SWTOR?

After all, you guys seem to be the only ones that get the job done...

Thanks for your time and consideration, and anyone else reading, for allowing me to rant/vent on this issue.

Cheers!

Yeah, I know how u feel abouta SWTOR driver/drivers, for me and like you my 480s Sli had no problems with the game dureing beta and after launch til' they put in the first Patch. Then that ruined everything for my 480s as it will make them over-heat, and now some of the cinematics are getting a little shakey to. Not good, and not good PR for Bioware/EA even if they do add GPU drivers in the 1.2Big Update ahead. They should've already have had a fix for the GPU problems as it happens to any kind of card, and not just 1 kind.

I'll probably dl this driver but if it doesn't have anything to do with the only game I play which is SWTOR, then why dl it.?

You must really be P.O'd to since this is the first post u'made and have been here since June of last year.?

For me the trouble is over-heating the Vid cards, and now some shakeing in the cinematics now, otherwise last I saw a cpl months ago I was getting 66fps which is good, but not so good if the game is ruining ur GPU by over-heating, and it even happens if I OC the Fan to.

Thanks, I'll try this out tonight. Seems like such a silly fix that the people at BF3 would fix this so people don't think their hardware or drivers are at fault.

Once you load the game from battle log if you look on your system tray you will see the bf3 icon on the left...click that and it will close battle log and bring you to the games loading screen.

The only reason I choose Nvidia over ATI is the drivers, if they keep pumping out crap then I will buy from ATI. The 285's are the last drivers that aren't garbage for me.

Ok so I loaded a game without using the trick and had texture flickering. Exited and restarted the same game after clicking the BF3 icon in the taskbar and all was well. Tried this with a few other servers with the same result.

Honestly, while I think most blame the drivers, I think a majority of the issues stem from BF3. Had I not been advised on the flickering trick, must frustration with this issue would have ultimately been blamed on the drivers of Nvidia products. The thing I think about is that while Nvidia is trying to making drivers perform well with buggy BF3, they must also consider the numerous other game titles users play. Keeping this in mind, I could see how developing the "perfect" driver would take more effort than we may think. Either way, I'm satisfied with the new driver thus far.

I decided to roll back to 285.62 last night.  All has been well for me until the other day when my 580 just randomly decided to start downclocking itself to 2d speeds when in game.  I tried adjusting the profiles reinstallig Afterburner and installing precision nothing worked. I also tried a clean driver install twice and still no go, so  bye bye 295's.

While I can appreciate that it is frustrating for some, I love it when people blame the development and publishing companies for game issues that are related to third party hardware that the end users are running. Think about it they have absolutely zero responsibility and control of the hardware people use and thusly are not in any way shape or form required to do anything on their end to solve what ever issues a very small percentage of players may be having.
