Everyone seems to be having trouble with these drivers. I've restarted several times. All my game are working great. Used to get serious FPS drop in MW3 and black ops. Driver 290.36 to 295.51 I experienced bad FPS drops specifically in these two games. Also NFS: Shift 2 wouldn't play at all. I was averaging 11 FPS. Overall these drivers are working great for me.

Was home sick for the past two days...played BF3 till my eyes were about to pop out!  Two crashes out of hours of game play and honestly I think the crashes were more on the server side.  Anyway, everything was smooth as butta with all settings maxed on my GTX580 3GB.

so i take back what i said about getting higher gpu usage on bf3...was just doing some gulf of oman 64p and was getting 30-40% usage and dipping into the 30-40fps range while looking across the whole map =/

using identical settings to what maniac suggests so im not really sure why i get such horrible gpu usage out of my setup outside of my cpu possibly just not cutting it for 3 cards

So after installing these drives, I have noticed my GPU usage has went up in games.  I have Vsync on my games except for a few.  It spikes up to 90% give or take and then falls back down..  What could be the problem?  Should I redo my settings in the games?  Force V-Sync on?

minuteman

BF3 still crashes on these drivers, pretty much every 20 to 30 minutes.

Running: Dual GTX 590's in SLI with water cooling.
What happens:
  • Screen turns black, monitor goes dark, computer is stuck, but hasn't crashed. Other apps and voice chat are still running
  • Game freezes for 2 seconds, screen turns black, everything else is still running, alt tab works and I can see a BF3.exe message has appeared telling me that a DirectX error has cause the game to stop responding. SOMETIMES I can just end task, but most of the time the system freezes and I have to hard restart. The funny thing is voice chat is still running as well as my other programs. I just can't do anything with the mouse or keyboard.
Now, this problem only occurs using all drivers versions except: 285.62 released back in October. The 285.62 drivers don't crash at all, but I still get that FPS dip which somtimes drops my FPS to 20 or 30 which is ridiculous considering I have dual GTX 590's, 12GB of 2000MHz memory and an Intel 990x processor. I have reported this problem with every Nvidia Driver release since 285.62, but nvidia has not acknowledged my bug report or released a fix for it. This problem only seems to happen on the GTX 500 series graphics cards from what I've seen on the net.

What in-game settings are you using?
Cyclic slowdowns are most often caused by running the in-game  Texture Quality setting too high, causing increased streaming loads. Due to your 1.5gig Vram, only the setting of HIGH texture quality should be used on a 590
Crashes could be caused by streaming timings or by temps, so rule out the temps.

So did you get it to work Maniac?

Games are working fine here on my 570SC. 3dmark11 went up from 6536 to 6560. Just a little bit. Gameplay in BF3 feels a bit smoother to tell you the truth (Less slowdowns). I don't know if it's the drivers though, or because I unparked my cores. I did both about the same time. Nonetheless, I give the drivers a thumbs up!

Hard to say. These drivers have eliminated the flashing textures in the distance for me (firestorm mostly), but others are experiencing issues.

I will either find a way, or make one.

I dunno about these. Games work great, but when I watch a youtube video in chrome, my display refreshes itself (cycles to black and back again like my resolution/refresh rate changed).

EDIT:

This release truly blows. I get the weird display refreshing any time I open or close any sort of video stream. This includes VLC, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, and in-browser video.

Reinstalling doesn't fix it. Reverting back to previous release. 45% in skyrim isn't worth this absurdity.

rblaes_99

so does everyone still uninstall and driversweep the old files before installing new drivers?  or are we past that to just installing overtop of the existing set?

I have done it both ways and don't seem to have issues either way.

I think if you are updating from 275/280/285+ series drivers (ones that started including the Nvidia update feature) then there is no need to use driver sweeper anymore unless you like running some betas (those may need full sweep).
I actually since 285 started installing WHQL drivers on top (upgrade mode) and have no issues.
...but I do not run SLI currently (can't find another cheap evga 570 recertified card anywhere) and I do not use any 3D stuff (I don't even install those features).

on a side note, this driver runs smooth and it works fine with Windows 7 Media Center, can finally watch TV again
also remote desktop and teamviewer sessions are working again with this driver
for me it's good enough

sorry to read many posts about SLI users experiencing so much trouble (missing SLI settings).

Personally I just use the Nvidia installer and select Custom -> Clean Install method.

Never had a problem by doing that, I only used Driver Sweeper in safe mode when I had 2x HD6970 2GB and previous cards like an HD5850 and an HD5970.

With Nvidia I've never used that program anymore and never had issues.

Just unsub like the rest of us did, the game is junk!

Says you. I stopped playing BF3 and Skyrim basically for SWTOR. More server bandwith for us then!

And this driver release sucks, all my games are acting weird, back to 290.53

LOL! and so my newegg's autonotify worked like a charm for EVGA's recertfied 570 HD (-1571-RX)
they put one piece back in stock at $199 so I took it, with 90 day warranty, just like any -RX line

I guess soon I will be testing out the SLI mode with this new driver hehehe

Hello I just downloaded and installed this driver for my 2 gtx 570s in sli on my evga x58 ftw3 Motherboard.  With 3x 24in displays in surround.   And rebooted after i installed this driver and i now have no sli or surround option in the nvida control pannel.  But i can re-install this driver and not reastart and it puts SLI and Surround back ANd every thing works fine and battlefield 3 plays great.  But if i restart i loose the sli and surround option and have only PhysX opption and i can then re-install the driver and Sli and surround comes back but if i restart my pc i loose them Again.
My Specs
Windows 7 x64
EVGA X58 FTW3 Motherboard.
Intel 990x stock.
12gb xms3 ram. stock
ocz 1000w power supply.
2x GTX 580 1.2gb each Stock. in SLI.
and three 24in displays.

What should it do? Im ok as long as i do not re-start witch is ok.
   But what is causing This?

Any Ideas?

yeah, I know, Q9450 is kinda old by now and a bottle-neck, especially with tri-SLI (with dual_SLI is not that bad), but I'm not ready financially yet for a MB+CPU upgrade. within a year, probably I will

Re:GeForce Forceware 295.73 64-bit WHQL 2012/02/28 16:37:51 (permalink)
just quick question a little off topic, but I need to make sure.
are there any adverse effects of putting into SLI 2 evga gtx 570 cards with same internals, but different case (HD vs non-HD model)?
I'm talking about SLI'ing the 570 vanilla (long -1570 version) with 570 HD (shorter -1571 version, different fan placement, different output ports I think).
as far as I know both models (-1570 and -1571) have exactly same clocks, number of shader cores, memory speed, bandwidth, etc.

I'm going to test that SLI setup with this new driver in a day or two and post back about SLI.

Had these drivers for a few days and have had no problems with them at all. I used the method of initially uninstalling drivers in windows environment then go into safe mode and use driver cleaner to get rid of any registry's or remnants of the previous driver.
Then install the new drivers and everything has been great in all games including and most importantly BF3. No lag or anything and most gpu's seem to be working. Same can be said of Skyrim as in previous drivers, only one gpu seem to be put under work.

Very happy with them .

not a single problem here so far with this driver running SLI mode (570 vanilla reference + vanilla HD). so far so good (1 restart passed):

EDIT:
perhaps the difference is that 2-3  months ago I run into some windows registry trouble and had to fresh install and I used a former WHQL driver as a base for updating to 295 WHQL, perhaps it makes a difference.
on a side note, one of 290 betas completely f**ked up my windows 7 x64 registry, I had tons of trouble with 2 nvidia RAID arrays I use and general system stability (at some point I thought the EVGA Precision was the problem as system was freezing on loading it at start up). not a single problem since reinstall.

This driver is so amazing it caused me to log on to say this.

I am using a evga 560TI with max settings on skyrim (no anti aliasing) with the official two high res model packs. I am getting 75 fps (v sync turned on) everywhere I go but dips to 60~75 fps in very high fog/snow on mountians (it's probably the high res pack).

This is a amazing driver and I can't think nvidia enough for making this! I am going to stick with this driver probably forever now unless there's a huge update like this again.

Didn't make a lot of difference for BF3 for me, but it screwed with Civilization V badly - very badly. Reverting back to previous WHQL.

what's wrong with this driver and civ V? I play it too and it runs great for me, no probs. however I re-installed it recently, because lots of steam cache files were not right during verification (after some DLC or update downloaded some time ago).
