Hey everyone,

I wanted to give you all the heads up that we're making some big changes to our game servers. We'll be migrating to a different provider that will provide us with better locations to host the game servers. Games include Battlefield 4, Team Fortress 2, Killing Floor 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Locations will be made available in Dallas, Chicago, NY/NJ, Log Angeles, London, and Frankfurt.

With a clear heading, all should be live by early next week.

As always, any and all feedback is welcomed. Feel free to leave a reply, PM, email, or hop on Discord if you want to discuss anything with me or the EGC team.

See you in game!

Gameservers helped evga gaming out before, they sponsored "EVGA BlackOps Gaming Event" with 12 CoD:BlackOps servers back in the day (2011).  They allowed us to keep the Free DLC gamecodes, that you receive for renting a BlackOps server, we gave them away to random community members.

Does this mean I will have to hunt down and favorite the EVGA servers again or will they stay at the same address?

You will have to hunt them down again, they should post information here and gaming page once they get everything setup.

It's not hard. Go to the server browser, clear out all the filters, and search for "EVGA". Bam! There they are!

    Sounds like a plan.

We will also be giving host names (Ex: Server.evga.com:2222) for each server to make your favorite server a little easier to remember, just in case you are at a new system or want to give the address to a friend.

Also just a quick mention we will not be turning off our current servers to switch over, we will make sure that everything is live and then switch over.  Once switched we will notify everyone and then turn off the current servers.

There will be no down time for the game servers.

Yes. We may change this in the future depending on how the new service goes. Anything above 30Hz is really only for competitive gameplay, IMHO, but that could change in the future. Casual gameplay seems fine at 30Hz.

I don't understand anything about what that speed in Hz means or how it affects gameplay. I just search for a server with the lowest ping and I'm done. Adding the new servers to my Favorite list now. Thanks again.

The Hz is how often the server updates per second. Higher Hz roughly translates to more accurate gameplay. 30Hz is typically all that is needed for your every day gaming needs. 60Hz and higher come into play for competitive gameplay like clan games, etc.

That's like saying all you typically need for gaming is GTX 950, why bother buying a GTX1080.

EVGA should at least try running 40Hz on the servers, test the new Game Server Providers hardware.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. As long as I am getting more than 30 FPS I should get no warnings from the server? Basically I am gaming at 30 FPS on the server regardless of my frame rate on my 144 Hz monitor?

The FPS on your computer does not relate to the Hz on the server.

Let me see if I understand this correctly. As long as I am getting more than 30 FPS I should get no warnings from the server? Basically I am gaming at 30 FPS on the server regardless of my frame rate on my 144 Hz monitor?

    No.

It's how often the server interacts with the client to determine what is occurring. This is in addition to latency. Reason why it may be lower than people would prefer is due to increased hardware demand on the server and thus increased price from providers. The difference is negligible at best and when it involves a game that is already widely inaccurate anyway, mostly a waste.

Not my fault if you're offended.
