GTX980 hybrid cooler and backplate for reference style cards

Noticed that GTX980 Hybrid cooler card (04G-P4-1989-KR) comes with a aluminum backplate similar.
Could a GTX980 backplate (i.e. 100-BP-2981-B9) be used on a reference GTX 980 card (i.e. 2982) with the purchase of hybrid cooler kit (water block + radiator)?

    Yes you can use the back plate (100-BP-2981-B9) on the GTX 980 ACX 2.0 04G-P4-2981-KR and 04G-P4-2983-KR. If you have any further issues or questions, feel free to contact us 24/7 at 1-888-881-3842 or by email at support@evga.com. And as you mentioned, the ACX does not work with Hybrid cooler.

    Your answer is incorrect.

    1st - hybrid cooler will not work on acx cards.

    2nd - I asked about reference style cards that fit the hybrid cooler (i.e. 2982). Will the backplate you called work on those cards as that seems to be used on the hybrid cooler reference card you are already shipping.

    OK, if you new the answer to your question why did you ask the question to begin with? Or was this a Tick Question?
    You also asked about the Back Plate and the answer given to you is correct.
    (i.e. 100-BP-2981-B9) i.e = means 'for example'

    The 1989 card comes preinstall as part of the new AIO Cooling Unit with the Blower Style Fan System.
    You cannot get a 1989 card with out a preinstall Back Plate and AIO Cooler System.
    I get my second card on Monday and will take a photo to post for you. Still though you cannot buy the Back Plate that comes with the 1989 Card.
    It is really not that different then the Back Plates preinstalled on the HC Model Cards.
    Remember to that the GTX 980 HYBRID also has higher clocks than the standard reference card.

    I own a 04G-P4-2983-KR card and I also own the back plate(purchased separately) 
    P/N: 100-BP-2981-B9 which is already installed on the card for awhile now. I just from you online store the hybrid kit and just got it today. I became very worried when I the instruction contained in the kit does not have any reference for my type of card and was preparing for a return thinking i may have messed by buying incompatible product. But after reading this post, if I understand it correctly, I may be ok afterwall because I also own the back plate. Did I get that right? Or do I need to return???

    I answered your other post as well, but I'll answer here too. Your card is an ACX cooler; this is incompatible with the hybrid kit, as the reference blower fan is required for the hybrid kit to work correctly.

    guess i will be returning it! by the way when reading a product description indicating that it's compatible with all gtx 980 reference cards, to me and probably a lot of other people who don't understand a simple word "reference" would be of such significance! They need to update the description. And why even make product to be not compatible with ACX. Or why not make one that is? I think im starting to dislike EVGA
