hi guys,
I bought this EVGA GTX960 yesterday, and I am experiencing some weird issues, maybe someone can help me out.

The problem is with dual screen. as many other users, I got a monitor on DVI and a TV on HDMI.
Also I use a sounbblaster Z for audio when I'm not using the TV as output.

Now, If I hook up both screens, DVI always works, but the TV loses connection and starts blinking, finding signal, losing it, finding it , and so on.
If I re-plug the tv, sometimes signal stays on, but gets lost if I test the HDMI audio device.
If I disconnect the DVI monitor, The signal to the TV is good, audio is also good UNTIL I fire up a game, then audio stutters in a regular pattern.
If I disconnect the TV and hook up my monitor with HDMI, then everything works fien, also after launching the same game.
This setup used to work perfectly with my onboard intel 2000 graphics, and also with my previous VGA card ( Ati 7770).

To me, it seems like a driver issue, something with HDMI troughput, but there are only the 247.52 and 247.25 drivers for me to try for this card, and both are not working for me.
I did the driver sweeper thing, swapped cables around.

My pc is Windows 8.1 on a intel H67-BL board, i5 2300, 8GB kingston ram and a 500W PSU.
I did use the pcie splitter to hook up 2x6 to 1x8 pcie power, and I used 2x molex to merge into one pcie 6x. But since I am testing in windwos dektop mode as well, I dont think it's a power problem.
Any suggestions I could try?

Thanks for reading

What's the TV that you're connecting to? Have you tried different HDMI cables? Try to not use a cable longer than 3m.

Also, does the tv have hdcp compatibility? Do you have the Nvidia hdmi audio drivers installed?

    @ wmmills:
Yes, the Nvidia control panel is installed.
Nvidia HD audios drivers is installed (full package).

    @ ERinW:
I use a cable length of 10 meters (30 ft)
The TV is an old Samsung LE40A656.

So took down the tv from the wall, but it near my pc, connected it with a 2 meter HDMI cable and I put windows in Expanded desktop.
    Everything is miraculously functioning now.

At first, I tried a different hdmi port (which seems broken), the TV didn't even get recognized in device management.
The other 3 ports worked all fine with the short cable.

So, while blaming the cable, I hung the tv back on the wall, cleaned it out, reconnected xbox/ decoder and pc.
And what do you know, now it all works!
    Sorcery I tell you !!

    So thanks for thinking.
I am going to buy a spare cable anyway, just in case.

    some advice:

one hdmi input in some tv have automatic switching capabilities
->no need to use remote control for getting the screen running
    but with 10 meters old cable  HDMI 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.4a
not fully wired you can get some weird switching.
the others 3 inputs seem better for avoiding this problem
but need the remote control for choosing the input.

    just for testing purposes:
maybe you can try use 10 meters certified full wired hdmi 2.0 cable
with these 3 inputs but this one is costly.

Cable length was probably your issue then. Between 15-25feet you lose some high speed signal throughput and at 25 feet or more the cables are no longer certifiable as high speed, unless your using a powered extender etc..... USB has the same issue too....anything up to 15 feet is ok, after that they lose signal, can spontaneously disappear in windows etc..... No sorcery there my friend. :)

    Hi guys,

    Some feedback:
After some days the problem reoccured.
I could reproduce it, every time I started a game and sent the sound to the tv by hdmi, the flickering began.
One time I kept the audio on my Soundblaster, and the flickering was a lot less. After turning the TV on and off it went away totally, it seemed. So I played like this for a while, but it wasn't a remedy.
video playback with hdmi audio was always flawless, so ****...

While reconsidering the sorcery part again, I went to buy a decent PSU, as my CRS from 2001 or something had worn sata power connectors. After swapping the PSU all my flicker and audio problems were gone, like magic!

I should have expected that my old PSU could not get the job done, because although 500W, it didnt even have PCI-e power connectors, do'h! I used molex-to-pci-e power splitters on the card, 4x molex to 2x 6pins pci-e to 1x 8pin pcie
So now I am running with my good ol' 30ft cable and everything works fine.

    Thanks all!

Glad you got it figured out. Too many discount that the psu provides the true heartbeat to a system, and can wreak havoc while everything else seems to be at fault.

What did you replace it with, if you don't mind?

    I bought the <not spam> Seasonic m12 evo 520Watt PSU for a decent price.
It's modular and silent and has plenty power for my current (and probably next) setup, and has the required pci-e power connectors :)
