Actually after seeing these benchmarks a dual 560 pcb with 2gb/gpu would be almost perfect for a 2d/3d surround card. Less power requirements to. Palit does have the 2gb 560 for sale. A pair of those in sli in surround wold be interesting.

I also been thinking if I want to lose performance to have extra video ram on the GTX 560 or sacrifice video ram to have better performance with a GTX 570

None of the GTX 560 cards (even reference) have external exhaust like the reference GTX 570/580. They all (gtx560) SUCK at Back to Back SLOT SLI configurations but are awesome at one slot in between them. Motherboard designs will be more important for nVidia Mainstream SLI people to be happy with the results of the 560 in SLI.

very nice testing and this does prove that the additional vram is necessary at high rez. about your license for crysis warhead, go to ea support and get in a chat with a support guy and tell him you need more installs on your warhead, he will ask you for your key and give you more installs. I had to do this recently myself and it took less than 5 minutes. I just told him I was a system builder and overclocker and it was no problem.

sk2play Why don't we see bezel dividers with your three monitors? Even if you took the bezels off, we should see the LCD enclosure. I even drag the pics to my desktop to find the dividing lines somewhere and they are non-existent. BTW, Thanks for this awesome thread you've started. Those are screen shots...

I placed my order for 2x Palit GTX560 TI 2gig cards today, should be in Tuesday. I have been needing a upgrade for some time my 2 GTX260's just cant deal with 5760x1080 very well I mainly play WOW and @good setting 4xMSAA and 16xAF it used around 700mbs. Because of this I have held off buying some games that are out that I wanted to play Dirt2 and Metro So I will pick them up to have some fun with my new GPUs. Thanks again Crap!

callsignvega The VR-Zone review of the Gainward 3GB GTX 580 (same as Palit card, just slightly larger cooler) says that he increased the voltage for over-clocking. But he doesn't describe what he used or how he did it. I've got a message into him asking. http://vr-zone.com/articles/vr-zone-exclusive-gainward-geforce-gtx-580-phantom-3072mb-review/10933-10.html Thanks for that link. It makes me way less jealous of the 3gb version knowing I will just use one 30" monitor. Especially with the test system setup similar to mine The components used to build our machine are: - Intel Core i7-965 Processor Extreme Edition, at 3.82GHz (166 x 23)
- Noctua NH-D14
- ASUS Rampage III GENE (Intel X58 Express)
- 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 memory in tri-channel, at 1660MHz CL9-9-9-27-1T
- Cooler Master Silent Pro M1000 PSU
- Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB HDD
- Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP LCD
- Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
- Gainward GeForce GTX 570 Golden Sample 'Goes Like Hell' Edition
- Palit GeForce GTX 580 1536MB
- Gainward GeForce GTX 580 Phantom 3072MB
- NVIDIA Release 263.09 WHQL

Not many right there, utterly useless "review" Who the hell with all horses at home use the extremely low 1920x1080 on a card designed for 2560x1600+AA/AF or higher. Only point there is thermal but it was expected that customcooler beat a referencecooler AND that 580 clock like a 580 where draw of luck is the key to get a good clocker, rest is just poor reviewing and bad judgement from author. We did already know ASUS would win it the way it was done wher 3GB is useless, i just love the conclutions or shall we say bad assumtions due to superlow rez used.

My favorite so far has been the VR-Zone Exclusive GTX 580 Phantom review, the first one on the net, in which the conclusion was: "Although having a large 3GB of memory does not make a difference in most games on a single diplay, the benefit of having more memory can be seen when moving to multiple display setups or using 3D Vision gaming." Which they said despite not having a single test of multiple display or 3d Vision gaming in their 11-page review.

The reson this tread exists is to show people that in multi monitor configurations, these 3GB cards start to shine. This card isn't intended for everyone and is honestly wasted on a single display unless you have a 2560x1600 monitor and crank the settings up. I did these tests because like you, I haven't been able to find a single review in Surround with these cards to really showcase them. And the Palit cards are not 2.5 slot designs, they are 2 slot design just like any other GTX580 with the exception of dual fans. And honestly don't look all that spectacular in your system as they just look like long black pieces of plastic.
