Hey guys, a quick question: Is this thermal pad from the backplate,  its suposed to be used or removed before install?

Asking because its releasing an oily substance that has the PCB all wet, maybe it should be removed?

thanks

It's there to transfer heat to the Backplate. You can remove it if you like though. Not going to harm anything.

Nice thanks, I removed it because the oil already discolored the s/n sticker, had to dry the surroundings with a paper towel.

I inspected closely after the reinstall and it does not make contact with the pcb on that zone, but still not sure because of thag fact the pad transfer heat to the backplate, I think Iam gonna reinstall it.

What you all guys usually do?

Should I make a poll of it lol.

The new back plates don't have it. Backplates that comes on Asus Cards don't have it either. No pad for EK Back plates as well. I wouldn't worry about it. Backplates are really just for aesthetic purposes. Only lower temps by 1-3 degrees.

ok I wont reinstall it.  Yes I just checked the serie 500 backplates and in fact they dont have thermal pad but a hole just over the GPU.
If the infamous thermal pad didnt sweat that bad it would be a good idea but the oil can crap on the new card. thanks for the advice really apreciated.
