It seems that these cards can take lots of overclocking, and so far we know that the Superclocked version of it is available. Will EVGA be releasing FTW version of this card? Also, would it be possible to get Tri-Sli capability in the newer version of the same card or that's not going to happen?

Tri-sli 460s would likely erode the 470 sli market, so I doubt you'll see a tri-sli capable 460 ever.

Yeah Jacob already said there wont be a 460's for Tri-SLI, there is no press release or mention of an EVGA GTX 460 FTW HC as of yet, there may be it might just pop up one day within the next few days to a month or so if they do decide to do it. If there is ever a 460 tri sli setup it will have to be a none reference or nvidia will drop the ball to do so, but seeing the 8800 GT's the 9800 GT's its prob safe to say no there will not be one.

No wonder there has been no FPB increase for the GTX 460 SC EE 1GB version if this is around the corner. I'm starting to feel a bit p****d about it seeing as all the other cards got a FPB and those who brought the SC 1GB version got just a fan update.

TBH most other vendors are doing special models and adding a bit of quality. I would hope EVGA would do the same and cool the VRM's. Also the fan is too small that is why some find this Delta annoying (more so that loud). If you remember the 1st batches of the 8800 GT 512 has a smaller fan and it was soon swapped to larger fan. Agree with above, should also do a 2GB as they have done with previous cards.

squall-leonhart quietness is subjective. Whether or not something is quiet is. But whether something is quieter than something else is not, unless I am much mistaken. Obviously some people had a problem with noise on the EE cards, so hopefully they use a higher quality fan that will make less noise for those people.

EE's will always be louder as of the way the fan has to push air from one end to the other end through fins ! But it keeps the case temps down compared to a Radial Fan blowing down in centre of card ! The issue is the fan used is a smaller whinier Delta.

I really want to buy a new card right now and the gtx 460 seemed like an easy buy, but after seeing benches of games like mafia 2 and metro pushing high end cards to the max for 30-40 fps etc. I'm not sure if it's worth it (especially with Mafia 2 recommending a gtx 480 + a PhysX card). I don't want to buy a card now and be looking to buy another card within the same year.

What happens when the card runs out of memory? Is there a stutter or just a temporary drop in frame rate when the card has to off load to system ram. I have 12GB of system RAM, sometimes I wish I could do like laptops with shared RAM and go into the BIOS and just tell the PC to use 2GB of system RAM for video. Is running out of Video RAM a deal breaker as far as game fluidity? From what I remember GTAIV would crash if the game ever needed more RAM than was available on the card.

Because it is not possible to do so. The cards are already binned, it would be a disaster. The reference speed can take a clock boost as we have a BIOS that can work for all cards. What if your SC card can only do 15mhz more? What if only 5mhz more? There is no problem with you overclocking it yourself and finding the limits. You can even set profiles in Precision for this.

Bigger fan (not crappy small Delta) even if this means a bulge in cooler like 8800Ultra though its fan did not use the extra space / properly cooled VRM's (as you hinted above) / nice ribbed backplate will actually cool not just look bling) / high flow bracket as standard. Charge more but its with it IMO.

I nearly forgot the 2GB or Memory (option) but have stated it many times before. Very good option for peeps buying to do SLI. And no matter what kiddies say a OC'd 460 will never be a 470 so I do not see any issue, make a special 47* F.T.W Flagship also !
