I agree helmutcheese....if EVGA came out with a card that blew away the others in low temps and noise via EE they would rule the market even if the card was 20-30 bucks more than the others. Im glad i waited, Im thinking 2 FTW are gonna replace my akimbo 8800's :P

TBH a few other vendors like Asus/Gigabyte and MSI have special models out that look good/run cool and OC like mad. EVGA IMO should have better cards than them 3 out there also. They have did it in the past but recently have nothing special to bring to the table IMO.

I do not have a 460 ! I also will never WC again, there is no need for it on today's GPU. Peeps want a special card if its labeled the Flagship product of tis range not naysayers.

http://www.tomshardware.c...oundup-gf104,2714.html the competitions OC'd models no watercooling, all on air the FTW edition would top everyone else's except jetway's but it being clocked at 4000mhz it could be on par or exceed it to make everyone happy release 1GB and 2GB variants i'm really happy with evga's quality, it just feels that there slow to react to the market and release something superior (or it was for a brief while)

fxdrake84 helmutcheese EVGA_JacobF The VRM's are cooled, stay tuned... Also min fanspeed will be 30% So VRM's is actually cooled on the F.T.W ? Why no go all out with the Flagship card ! Bigger fan (not crappy small Delta) even if this means a bulge in cooler like 8800Ultra though its fan did not use the extra space / properly cooled VRM's (as you hinted above) / nice ribbed backplate will actually cool not just look bling) / high flow bracket as standard. Charge more but its with it IMO. They cant really put too much on it. It will add cost and start to encroach on their higher product model, such as the GTX470. i think thats fine that pricing model is acceptable for example a fully loaded entry-level model car can reach the base price (or slightly more) of a mid-level model car why can't it work for video cards? if equipped with functional accessories (that would do it good since it's OC'd pretty heavily) i'd pay more for it, within reason of course and it's justifiable

Video cards are not the same as cars. Imagine how many people would ask you why you went with a lesser model video card when you could have gotten a faster one for the same price. I sure as heck wouldn't buy a GTX 460 for the same price as a GTX 470.

Im looking to get a pair of 460's when i get back from my travels late this year, hopefully prices will have dropped a tad. Wonder what the price is going to be on these FTW cards? I was looking at EVGA to begin with and only noticed today on a 460 SSC box that there is a "good, better, best" graph stuck on the front. Goes SC, SSC and FTW.

Why would anyone grab a 460 FTW that probably wont have much headroom to OC any farther when you can grab a GTX470 for the same price and be able to OC? I'm seeing the FTW being prices at 280 at most, otherwise GTX470 would be the card of choice. The GTX470 is has 25% more of everything over a GTX460. http://www.nvidia.com/object/graphics_cards_buy_now.html

EVGA's prices of 460's range from £167 (768MB standard) to £181 (1GB SC). If they do end up being more than £230 though the 470 may tempt people as those range from £220-£270.

GTX 460 is based on GF104 Fermi architecture. It is amazing compared to 8800GT. People are comparing it to the 8800GT because in terms of price for performance it is as good as or better than the 8800GT was when it came out.

See what I mean about Naysayers ! See the peeps who do not get that the Flagship 460 could acceptably be nearly the same price as a Vanilla 470, well they can simply buy the 470 and not complain. I would rather have a special build of a GPU with far better components/cooling etc than a plain vanilla POS 1 model above it. The FACT is the other 3 big vendors I mentioned above are doing it and getting most sales. EVGA is losing a slice of that pie right now because I know for a fact most peeps are crying out for them 3 brands esp Gigabyte and MSI and who can blame them ?

rambler358 squall-leonhartthat said, I will await nvidia's release of the full 104, it will trash the 470 in performance for the most part, ....F@H excluded. Why would you exclude F@H? The GPU's performance will factor into F@H as well. GF104 doesn't scale as well in folding, though that could just require tweaks to the core file, its even less useful as a double precision compute card, not that DP is really necessary for most people.
