At EK's website, all they're showing for full waterblocks for the GTX 980 Ti Classified are the one's for the GTX 780 Classified. Are they supposed to be compatible with the 980 Ti Classified?

Yes, ek don't plan to make a waterblock for the 980 ti classified as the 780 classy block will fit.

Yes, EK just replied back to me and confirmed that their GTX 780 Classified waterblocks are fully compatible with the GTX 980 Ti Classified.

Hope you're aware that this block will not cover all VRMs on your card...

I remember I have read something about block for KPE, here on forum but I don't remember in which thread exactly..
Dig 3-5 last page regarding liquid cooling, blocks and I'm pretty sure you will find it...

NVM, block for 780 Ti Classy is listed as compatibile with 980 Ti Classy AND KPE...

Now I see you have edited post...

You have to go thru configurator and select:
nVidia -> 980 Ti -> EVGA -> and finally Classy version (3rd row from what I see...)

still says "visual" only. Luk said he would post here if they got a card from evga and actually  test fit it.

I think the 980ti kpe is a misprint also

As long as both Classies uses same PCB there shouldn't be a problem and visual inspection is OK.

But still I'm more concern about incorrect design which missing some VRMs...

    Wrong,
these VRMs were missed even on 780s for which this block were made...
Sadly that EK is making those mistakes..

Just look at this picture from EK website:

Could you comment on exposed VRMs?
I have read someone's statement (I'm searching for this post but I can find it..) that before, you tried to belittle this case and later on, under pressure of people, you admitted that's not how it should be made.
I would like to hear from you, I'm not using facebook where most of people complains and looking for answer, if it's design defect or what?
With EK-FC980 GTX Classy you covered that area on PCB containing these VRMs so it indicates that it needs to be / should be cooled...

Since we aren't re-doing a specific block but instead using the 780 Classy block, the VRM section will still be not covered by the block like it was for the 780.

Oh wow, really? That sucks since I'm going to be building my very first custom liquid cooling setup and using the 980 Ti Classy's. Instead of EK redeeming themselves for the defective 780 Classy wb (which in reality should not be labeled as a full wb) you guys are just going to cut corners and not build a completely new full wb for the 980 Ti Classy. That's very disappointing IMO specially to someone like me who want to get into liquid cooling.

This has been on the 980 Ti Classified thread for months, but Bitspower and Aqua are both making blocks also i hear for the Classy and the KPE or you could just put some small heat sinks on them and use the EK one, they dont get that hot

I'll probably wait until Bitspower creates a full wb for the 980 Ti Classy, which they probably will for sure. I'll just go with a Bitspower build instead. Was going to go with full EK wb for my build but the fact they didn't make it right for the 780 Classy to begin with and refuse to completely make a new one for the 980 Ti Classy kinda disappoints me.

You have to realize, when ek makes a block, they go off of manufacturers specs. I have 4 780 Classy blocks, and they cover everything except for the vrm modules and the very back of the card. None of my cards have ever had any issues, included during overclocking under water (you aren't pushing voltage under water, so it won't matter.)

The Waterblock is considered full cover since EVGA specifically stated that the 780 Classified vrm would NOT have heat issues from those vrm.

Why cover something that isn't going to heat up? The 980 Classified block has contact there now, and it is pretty much passive. Water doesn't go directly over those vrm modules, it just pull heat away as it slowly makes it way to the water.

To make it 100% full, they would have been adding more Plexi/Acetal to the Block, which would have added more weight... Why add more weight? Aesthetics don't turn into performance, and neither of the waterblocks for the 780classified had contact with those vrm. The hydrocopper block, made by swift tech at the time, didn't even touch them.

There is no reason to make a brand new block and waste 2 months constructing it around those vrm modules when they aren't an issue.

Bitspower block may be more aesthetically pleasing, but I have never used them before. I am not impressed with the fittings, so I tend to be shy of buying from them.

I have noticed they are out of stock on the ek website. will another production cycle be happening? I only have 1 block atm but two cards. I plan on a 3rd card on boxing day. Will i be able to still get blocks? other wise i will have to ditch my setup.

As of yesterday, the 780 Classy block as been physically tested on a 980 Ti Classy and fits.

The production of the 780 Classy block should be re-started very soon.

I have noticed they are out of stock on the ek website. will another production cycle be happening? I only have 1 block atm but two cards. I plan on a 3rd card on boxing day. Will i be able to still get blocks? other wise i will have to ditch my setup.

Currently, we have some in stock but in very low amount.

Do you plan on restocking the Nickel with Plexiglass one? I don't like the acetal cause the black doesn't match my rig. I'm sitting here with two GTX 980 Ti Classifieds that are overheating and need waterblocks :(
