Anyone know if these will have the reference pcb or a custom design? I see it will use one 8 pin and one 6 pin, but still I'm not so sure if a reference water block would fit on one.

I know the 670 FTW had the 680 pcb, and the 680 FTW had a custom pcb, so I wonder if this tradition was upheld.

It is a custom PCB with 6 power phases.

So just to confirm, reference ek waterblocks won't be compatible?

Considering the reference gtx 980 pcb has 6 power phases with 2 of them disabled and solder pads for 6+ 8 pin power.  To me the FTW just looks like a fully populated reference PCB, but EVGA should know their own card.

Thank you for the information Jacob.

Rye, this is exactly what has me confused. As far as I can tell, it's a fully populated reference board as you said, and should thus be compatible with the reference water blocks. A total confirmation one way or another would be more than great. I've already ordered another SC ACX 2.0, but would rather wait for the FTW if my reference water block will work on it. I'm sure I'd get a lot more bang for buck out of it, so I'd be happy to cancel that order and wait a week or two.

Hey Jacob, can you confirm if the gtx 980 FTW is compatible with reference gtx 980 water blocks like EK or Koolance. I have 3 weeks left on my step up and am seriously considering upgrading my 980 sc's but only if the EK blocks are compatible because I dont wanna buy another set of blocks.

Was there any resolution to this?  I'm looking to buy the FTW 980, but....only if I can find a full coverage water block for it.
