Hi there,

I got my gtx 980 FTW and have a Big Problem.

I really Hope that anyone can help me.

I got all the time Crashes when i Play Borderland 2 and Borderland The pre Sequel.

I Analyzed my Windows Log - First my Nvidia Forceware Driver stoped Working.

Then Crashed my Borderlands Exe.

I got the Issue with Overclock Settings, with Stock Settings and with Downclock Settings.

Sometimes the Game runs 5 Minutes, somtimes 1 Hour.

Games like Farcry 4 or Max Payne 3 runs with Ultra Settings and Overclock Settings (GPU+90-, Vram+450 MHz) Stable.

I have also deactivate in Borderlands the Physix.

I run atm 350.12 - got the same Issue with 347.88.

Ideas?

Sry for my Englisch :D

Ohhh btw with my old GTX 780, the game has run fine.

Sounds like the card is unstable. How far did you downclock it? Did you downclock both the core & memory or only the core?

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers w/ clean install?

Yes. I used DDU v15.0.0.1 for a clean Uninstallation.

Maybe i go to reinstall my win7 64bit. I have absolutely no idea, and that makes me sick :(

    I won't reccomend you to uninstall Win 7 so don't worry :)

Is your CPU overclocked? If it is than try running it on the stock clock.

What are your temps ingame? Install GPU-Z to see your temps if you need a tool.

If you're using Steam, verify the files of the game.

Try these out and hopefully someone has some more. Usually it would be an unstable clock that cause this but that's not really the issue here. So it's kind of a mystery, but reinstalling Windows would be like reformating your hard drive to remove a virus. Not that it's a bad idea, it's just an extremely time consuming process and there's a good chance it's a hardware issue so it wouldn't even help.

    Hi again,

    i have a i7 4790k without OC

i another Thread i actually describe the Problem. I thought the reason is the oc setting.
I checked the Card Completely. It doesnt goes up 72C.

Perhaps i found the issue. If i deactivate adaptive vsync, the Game runs with Maximum Power (1.2v 1508vram 3978vram - looks stable but need more time to test.
When i Activate ingame Vsync or in the Driver Menu Adaptive - My Card runs with 1.012v 1278gpu 3978vram and crashed.

If I deactivate Vsync and choose the option 120 fps it run with 1.2v 1508vram 3978vram.

It looks like that the Option Vsync downgrade my voltage ? and the card would unstable.

    This only happens on Borderlands.

Farcry 4 or any other Game i have Run with adaptive vsync and 1.2v 1508vram 3978vram.

I remember, on my gtx 780 i also havent this issue.

Since it appears that only the one game is affected then I suspect nothing is wrong and adaptive sync will have to be deactivated

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Ok now the Driver has also stopped Working on Desktop.

I go back to 347.88 - seems to be, that 350.12 is not that choose i hope.
I play no GTA V so its ok to test.

I wouldn't RMA the card just because one game has an issue. Might want to try all available drivers sets to see if you can get one that works with that certain game without any issues.

try the last Drivers and i also have tryed to deactivate physix.

I got yesterday also driver crashes in desktop mode. First with 350.12 later also with 347.88.

I take the card and went to my neighbore.
He is using two gtx ,980 from MSI.

OK after we built in and testing, borderlands, it also crashing ****?

I believe the card has a big problem with his voltage or something else.

And btw, atm I have only with borderlands problems sometime on desktop. But who is promised me, that this is really the only one? I lost my trust in this card.

Well, in that case if your friends PC is behaving the same way then that would show its probably the card. I would say you would have a valid claim to either RMA with EVGA or the retailer you purchased it from.

I'm sorry you're having this issue and hopefully the next card works for you.

The easiest way to RMA the card would probably be calling EVGA and they can walk you through the process or they may even have the solution for you when you call.

    I call evga on Monday.

My friends gtx 980s r massively oc. And his voltage runs stable with vsync in borderlands. But he also have custom bios on his cards.

I think I won't try this. Its a really mysteriym.

I love this card. I see the incredible power but I also see on the internet many issues with the ftw edition.

Maybe I got my money and buy a sc.

Don't touch the BIOS if you're going to RMA.
