Hello all,
This is my first post on EVGA. Yay!
I have an issue with my new EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 and I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's wrong. After installation, it runs 3 monitors just fine, it renders complex video in Premiere just fine, and it stress tests fine with OC Scanner. But as soon as I load a game and get past the loading screen, it shuts my computer down within 5 seconds of actual gameplay. The menu and loading screens work fine but once it enters gameplay, it cuts my computer off almost immediately and reboots. It's not a heat issue because it shuts off too quickly to get hot. You may say it's a problem with the card, but this is the second GTX 970 SC that I've tried. The first one was bought used on eBay by a guy who says he didn't have this issue. I returned it on the grounds of being defective, and my 2nd 970 SC was bought new on NewEgg and I have the exact same problem. Before I returned the eBay card, I did a clean install of Windows 7 Pro to make sure incompatible drivers or other programs/settings weren't causing an issue. So that's two GTX 970 SC's tested on a clean install of Windows. All my Nvidia drivers are up to date and I've tried rolling them back to previous dates as well.
My relevant specs are:
Windows 7 Pro
ASRock Z97 Extreme6 mobo
i7-4790K - Corsair Hydro H60
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 32GB
Diablotek 750 watt PSU
WD Black HDD
Only games tested (all crashing):
COD Advanced Warfare
The Amazing Spiderman
Gone Home
Has anyone ever had this issue before??? I've researched online and found a few similar cases that were addressed with an RMA, but this is my 2nd try already.
I put my EVGA GTX 480 SC back in for the time being, and it plays games just fine and runs hotter than the GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0 ever would. Thanks for any help!
