I have a EVGA model number 04G-P4-2978-KR installed in a ASUS Z97-A mobo, intel i5-4690k, 8Gb RAM and a Thermaltake 650w smart M PSU.

Occasionally while playing SWTOR, the both monitors go black momentarily (couple of seconds) but the game audio is still playing.  When it returns the game appears to be catching up - not totally reinitializing but attempting to start where it left off??

1) Any ideas on where I could search for an error code in an NVIDIA software log stored somewhere on this Win 7 Pro, 64bit machine?  Can find nothing related in the Win 7 event viewer for the time periods when it stops.

2) What types of items should I look for in the game settings?  I have used the NVIDIA GeForce Experience control panel to optimize the GPU for the SWTOR game.

While the PC is only two weeks old and the GPU is only 4 days old and I have not played any other games, this only happens when playing SWTOR.  Should the NVIDIA control panel have set up all the controls properly or is there additional tweaking that needs to be accomplished inside SWTOR?

I ran the Experience for a little while on a few occasions.  I think it has problems unique to itself, personally.  I always end up uninstalling it and then doing a fresh driver and PhysX install.  I will say this... when I optimized every game according the Experience, some games had issues at times but SWTOR always had issues that I could only resolve by deleting the settings file for it.  When restarting the game and allowing it to create a new one I would then optimize on my own and things were fluid.

Let me repeat that after using Experience on SWTOR I had problems every... single... time.  Delete the SWTOR settings file, uninstall the NVIDIA components using DDU, reinstall the driver and PhysX (and audio if you need it) and see if you continue to have problems with SWTOR.

BTW, you are going to have to test some other games and wouldn't hurt to run some benchmark programs to be certain you don't have any hardware issues as well, but you need to do that without GeForce Experience because you are adding an additional variable when using it.

+1 to uninstalling gfe, rebuilding swtor config file & doing a clean driver install. If those three things don't help then I would start trying different drivers and trying to underclock the card to see if the issue goes away.

I was having the same issue, download evga precision x and set your fan speeds to keep your card at 70c and under. Try 50 % fan speed for starters. Issue should/will go away.

using a more aggressive fan profile will help, as will a new PSU. I used to have the thermaltake and it was garbage. Crashes every few hours, just watching movies.
