Hi guys,

Sorry if this is a daft question, but are there any known issues with the GTX 970's and either DisplayPort or HDMI connections?  A while ago I saw a post in one of the Keppler forums with someone having a gamma issue when using DisplayPort, and I've seen a few posts (not necessarily here) complaining of blank screen issues with DisplayPort on the GTX 980 and GTX 970's.

The reason for asking is that I'm upgrading my monitor soon, and the new ones I'm looking at only have DisplayPort and HDMI connectors, and as I'm using DVI, I'll need to get some new leads.  Whilst HDMI leads are cheaper (by around 50%), I prefer DisplayPort leads because of them being latching, but obviously if they're "quirky" on occasion ...

Thanks! :)

P.S. If it makes a difference (firmware, etc), I have the "blower" SC model, purchased at the end of last year, and will be connecting to a 2560x1440 60hz display.

Current PC: Intel Core i7 4790K, Noctua NH-U12S, Asus Z97-Pro, 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1866Mhz RAM, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, Crucial MX100 512GB, Western Digital Black 2TB, EVGA GTX 970 SC (blower), Pioneer BDR-209DBK, Fractal Design Define R4 + Noctua NF-A14 FLX fans, Corsair AX760 PSU, Dell U2713HM

I actually just went through a similar situation so I think it's really hit or miss based on the GPU/monitor combination. My previous GTX 970 functioned fine with an HDMI to DVI cable but when I built a new system and upgraded to a 980, the GPU/monitor/cable just would not work (permanent monitor standby). I then bought and connected an HDMI to DP cable that works fine... not sure what the problem is with the 900 series but luckily there's a few different ports you can try out incase one does not work.

Bah!  I guess I'll just go with el-cheapo £4 HDMI lead then, instead of forking out £12 for a DisplayPort one then ... :(
