Bought this off ebay last week.  Every time I played a game 15 minutes, it crashed.  I ran a torture test and it crashed in 20 seconds.  So I opened the case and neither fan is spinning.  Is there a separate hook up to power the fans or did I get ripped off?  I just have the one 8 pin connector plugged in.  Fans don't run at all even at idle.  It's a testament to the huge cooler on the card that it's fine running dual monitor stuff with no fans running.  It can even get away with light gaming but in the torture test it went up to 76 degrees in 15 seconds and crashed soon after.

Check the pcb to make sure fan cable is properly connected.

Pulled it out, plugged in properly.  Even in GPU stress test, 0 rpm confirmed by my hand, but the monitor shows 0 rpm even under extreme load.  Either the PCB connection is faulty or the fans are.  Since both fans are out, I bet it's the connector on the board.   I had to put my 7850 2GB back in for now.

Time to send it back to the seller or do a guest rma.

What is the Guest RMA process and why does it help?

    • No registration is required to submit a request.
    • Warranty submission is done through a simple online form without contacting tech support through the phone.
    • You know if you're under warranty right away, if you're under warranty you can submit an RMA.
    • You can work with EVGA's legendary tech support for troubleshooting if you wish, or you can skip and send your product in.

So there isn't a separate program to make the fans turn on, someone was trying to tell me I had to download a separate program to control when the fans come on aside from the standard Nvidia driver off the Nvidia site?  Is there a program from EVGA that I have to run to turn the fans on?

Fans should come on automatically around 60-65c without having to use evga precision x or msi afterburner.

You can try downloading precision and manually setting the fans, but as Sajin said, theys hould of came on around 60c.

This may be a work around, but if you can only get the fans to run with Precision then that would likely indicate that there is an issue with the card (unless that card has a modified vBIOS installed disabling them). If you find that this works for you then by all means feel free to continue to do so.

In either case I would recommend contacting us directly so we can work to take care of this, or (like Sajin suggested) feel free to use the Guest RMA program to get that card replaced.

I looked it up and it's still under warranty so I opened a ticket.  Thanks everyone
