My system has been running fine until recently.  I play World of Tanks, WOW, Eve.  I run Windows 10 and I have a 34" monitor being driven by a 770 GTX.  Across multiple driver versions, I started noticing that World of Tanks was misbehaving: periodic driver crashes, black screens requiring system reboots. They got worse until the game is unplayable.  They had recently upgraded their graphics and I assumed they had some bugs, check the forums, others reported similar issues.  No worries.  I logged back into Wow and caught a simple bird flight.  Nvidia driver crashed 5 times on the flight.  That has never happened before.  So tonight I downloaded the valley graphics benchmark.  On its DX11 setting, immediate black screen and reboot.  I set it to DX9 and low resolution... it runs briefly.  The temp is reported at 60degrees so not overheating.  Then it black screens, system reboot.

So here I am.  I just followed the really brilliant write-up by Sajin thinking Windows install, driver after driver, maybe it is crap.  So I followed the directions to a T, cleaned and then reinstalled.  I know you will think I am crazy but the screen seemed to look crisper afterward.

Ran the benchmark again with the same results.  I have run this before when I was running Win 7 and even after I first migrated to Win 10.  So I know it has run successfully and correctly.  It helped me diagnose a stuck fan on the previous card.

Is my card just dead/dying?  Appreciate any thoughts.

We can pretty much rule out any software related issues since you've performed a clean installation of the drivers, and even the OS. The best way to test your card would be in another system altogether. If the same issue carries over to another system, then at that point we can be certain that the card is faulty. You can even try testing with another working card in your current system (you're going to want to use a card that has similar resource requirements), and apply the same principal.

You should check your PSU's voltages because issues of this nature can be power related.
Go into your BIOS and look for the +12v reading, this is typically under 'PC Health Status', System Monitor, Hardware Monitor'. A healthy reading for the 12.0v rail is between 11.4 - 12.6v, and stable. It should not fluctuate rapidly more than .05v. The 5.0v (4.75-5.25) and 3.3v (3.135-3.465) should be steady as well.

Please let us know if the issue persists.

I'm having exactly the same problem with WoT. I've reinstalled the game and have tried running it clean and with known safe 'mods'. It still crashes, but does not crash if the graphics card is removed.
    EVGA GTX 770
I've also re-installed Windows 10 and the drivers, and checked the PSU voltage via the BIOS monitoring tools. It reads 12.192 and 5.1, rock steady - no fluctuations
The card was replaced with a re-furbished card under warranty and I've tried a new PSU as well.
I'm at the point where I may have to buy a different graphics card

What are your full system specs? Don't forget to include make/model/age of psu.

That is everything in the system.  I bought the pieces in batch in Jan 2014.

The power rails are rock steady in the ranges described.  I don't have another machine or equivalent card to test.

You could always have the card tested at your local computer repair shop.

Thanks for the detailed instructions on things to try.

I've tried everything you have recommended on the link.

In particular, after clearing and re-installing the drivers and clearing everything in Windows Start-Up and playing with only the game client running it crashed after about 40 minutes and keeps crashing. This is exactly what has been happening in the past. It appears like it is temperature related but the monitoring tools say the temperature is fine

I've now gone back and reset Windows to the normal settings and added the regular start-up options. Once again I have removed the graphics card and am playing with the motherboard graphics. No problem with crashing in that mode

If nothing works, try to update the bios of your card(to 80.04.C3.00.72). I have the exact same card(EVGA GeForce GTX 770 Superclocked 2GB) and it had the same problems until I updated the bios. Watch out, as updating can be dangerous and difficult.

Google: GPU bios update, and you will find the download page and guides.
To find the bios, google: "evga gtx 770 2048 mb 80.04.C3.00.72" (ensure the picture is the same as your card)

    Good luck!

    Ben,
I checked and mine was already at that BIOS level.  Thanks though.

    So was mine.
I'm about to test it with another graphics card

I am working on an RMA.  If the RMA fails, it may be time for a new system board.

I've just been able to run another test using an MSI GTX 970 graphics card and it failed in exactly the same way. That means two EVGA GTX770 and one MSI GTX 970 cards have all failed.
So it's highly unlikely the graphics card is causing the failures.
I'm thinking it's probably the motherboard

I know this thread is fairly old, and I can't yet send direct messages lol. What did you ultimately find out? Was it the mobo? I have literally done "everything" but try a new GPU or testing my GPU in another rig.

This is old! It was the CPU. Once changed there have been no issues at all and it’s been well over a year.
    The graphics card works perfectly.
