Hibernate works, but not regular sleep.

Hibernate is awful though because it takes forever to come back on.

Welcome to the forums, AtomicWalrus.

I found that if I let my apparently awakened but black-screened system sit there a while it would eventually reboot; I had always hit the reset button too soon before to see that.  Doesn't change that there is a problem, so just curious.

I'm having the same problem with my new GTX 680. It worked fine before with my old ATI 5750.
Any solution to this yet?

Don't know if this helps or not, but I found this on the Asus forum about s3 sleep issues.

Thanks for the idea.
I think most of us are using evga x58 boards.  When I was first trying to figure this out I came across the asus "Internal PLL Overvoltage" fix.  I'd try it but I can't find an equivalent in my bios.

Edited to add that I apparently lost my mind this afternoon and ordered parts to build a new system with the 680s (and other scavenged parts), So I should have my sleep issue fixed by the end of the week :P

On a personal Opinion... It's taking too much time... Again.

I already mentioned it somewhere in this Thread but keeping the bothered Customers more frequently informed should be a given! Not something we have to nag about.

It's been more than 6 weeks by now and nothing has been done about it except telling us that someone is forwarding this issue to someone else and ( hopefully ) someone is working on it - It's like telling us the sun is shining and the weather is blue - I could have guessed that aswell.

Are we customers supposed to solve the problem ourselves by testing different hardware configurations not everyone has at hand?

I even opened a Techsupport Ticket I totally forgot about and all I got was something like:
"Have you tried the 296.10 Drivers?"
Are you Serious? I mean... ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!

I just installed a GTX690 and I'm having the same issue with my PC not waking from sleep, haven't seen anyone in this thread mention the 690 so I thought I'd chime in.  The PC will wake from sleep, just won't wake up any of my 3 monitors.

I'm having the same issue with a new 670 SC as well, with an X58 SLI mobo + i7 920. S3 sleep worked fine with my old card.

I took out my old card, removed the old drivers (Driver Sweeper), installed the newest drivers, and sleep no longer works. I tried updating my BIOS and removing my overclocks, but didn't see any change.

When I'm rebooted, this is the error I receive:

Problem signature:  Problem Event Name: BlueScreen  OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48  Locale ID: 1033
Additional information about the problem:  BCCode: 50  BCP1: FFFFF880904C5000  BCP2: 0000000000000001  BCP3: FFFFF8800F22CEEA  BCP4: 0000000000000005  OS Version: 6_1_7601  Service Pack: 1_0  Product: 256_1

Hibernate does work.

I'm happy to follow-up, provide more details if that would help. Thanks!

I tried my 680 in another computer and had the same results (wouldn't wake from sleep) however I just installed the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and just found out that it will wake from sleep if I boot to Win8.

So... I wouldn't call that a solution (not really liking 8 so far) but at least it appears to be some type of software issue that will hopefully be resolved for Win7 soon.

Installed (both) mine in another computer (X79-based) and it wakes fine from sleep.  So as we previously surmised, it's not the actual cards but a combination of parts.

Re:GTX 680 - problems resuming from S3 sleep 2012/05/17 19:20:36 (permalink)
[HazMatt]

I tried the beta drivers, and tinkered with the Power Management settings within Windows, but no luck so far.  I even tried my 580 with a configured .inf on the R300 driver, but the system resumed from S3 fine.

Is it safe to say that what we all have in common is an EVGA X58 chipset, Windows 7 64 bit SP1, and a GTX 680? Have we all tried removing any other PCI/PCIE devices from the system (boot permitting)?  Have we tried setting our BIOS to stock?

I'm continuing testing with Matt H at EVGA...

HazMatt, and others, for me I never use beta drivers til' I get them in WHQL or they have been tested by a lot of ppl. Now I know this isn't a driver issue since ppl have different drivers in some cases, but it's just the way I do it because if I do Beta drivers then my Computer gets messed up usually.

1 of the biggest things that has always been on my mind since Jacob first put it out is a lot of ppl have the old drivers and are not supposed to with excetion with the 680 Newer drivers. A lot of ppl make that mistake and don't erase or add/remove all the older drivers, and a lot of ppl that i've told with problems is that  is an issue that a lot of ppl still don't bother to know, or just haven't looked at the thread for removeing all of the ppls old drivers and do a Clean install in Video Safe Mode.

For some ppl this may be the issue, for some, or even all it might not.

I'm sure this isn't the main issue, but I thoght i'd put it out there.

New data point:  Same issues with vanilla 670 and the X58 FTW3 mobo.  New windows install as I (re)built a machine around the mobo/cpu for my nephew after moving my 680s to an X79 rig.

I've been annoyed with this issue ever since I got my 680...so here's another data point for you.

I got the ASUS DirectCU II TOP card, and using an EVGA X58 SLI LE motherboard. No other PCI slots used, no hardware controllers, just a barebones system.

If my HDMI monitor turns off, then it seemingly loses the monitor and will not come back.  I have to physically unplug the monitor from the back of the GTX 680 and plug it back in for it to be recognized again.

I can also replicate the issue with S3 sleep.  In addition, I tested this using a Win7 install on a mechanical HDD and SSD, the same problem occurs.

It's rather annoying -.-

EVGA is continuing to look into this.

Apparently, the NVIDIA 301.42 WHQL was supposed to address this problem, but I'm still experiencing crash/reboot upon S3 wakeup.

Will keep you all posted...

I'm having the same issue ever since I upgraded my 460 for a 670.

Motherboard: EVGA x58 SLI3
CPU: i7 930
GPU: ASUS GTX 670 DCU II TOP
NVIDIA DRIVER: 301.42

The motherboard code when resuming oscillate between 40 and 41.

From the manual
40         Test 8259-2 MaskVerify 8259 Channel 2 masked interrupts by alternately turning off and on the interrupt lines.
41         Reserved

Hope this help

Same boat, but on a BRAND NEW z77 board build

asus z77v deluxe
gtx680 sc
samsung 830 ssd
win7 pro x64

rma'd one card, replacement crashed on sleep resume too. I know it's the card as going back to a 8800 is totally stable...This is insane that evga and nvidia aren't doing anything to address this...how'd this even make it past Q/A?

I'll give it another few weeks and then I'm switching to AMD.

Reporting same problem here.
I have 2 displays, a panasonic TV via HDMI and a LG monitor via DVI.
When resuming from sleep mode, only the LG monitor displays the desktop. The only way to restore signal to the tv is disconnecting and reconnecting the hdmi cable (and sometimes i have to do it more than twice to make it work )
Evga, please help us!

You have an EVGA x58 motherboard and those drivers resolved the wake from sleep problem?  Would be great if it is so.

Those appear to still be buggy, especially since they are developer drivers and not beta yet.

However, thank you for posting - it lets us know it is currently being worked on (according to your results) - I assume like the above poster you were using an X58 board?

etepe3,

Thanks for posting this, I'll see if this 302.59 Beta will work properly.

Everyone else who is having problems can also try this version at their own risk, since this seems to be a pre-release developer build.
