OK folks, I am now folding 40-46k PPD on WU 7005 for the CPU and beta units!!!  2600K 100% 8 cores.  GTX680 still chugging along at 20k+ PPD... hoping for a new client soon.

Thanks for the BR!

It's a preliminary "fix" for it to fold something... not getting actual output at the moment.........

20k and change (+) folding at stock clocks.  I have been pushing a bit at a time and am getting 22.6k PPD at 1240, plus 130 core boost.

22K PPD is pretty darn good for that card, especially since it doesnt even have a client or drivers that really support it.

If it was able to fold on a 803x project, it would probably fold for just about 30K overclocked.

So we can tell it is actually getting more PPD then any of the other cards.

I configured V7 in the manner described, and keep getting memtest errors. Specifically:
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:Client config unavailable.
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:Finished fah_main status=59
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:mdrun_gpu returned 59
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:GPU memtest failure
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:0x15:Folding@home Core Shutdown: GPU_MEMTEST_ERROR
13:11:50:WU00:FS00:FahCore returned: GPU_MEMTEST_ERROR (124 = 0x7c)

Running the console version with  -forcegpu nvidia_fermi -betateam results in:
[13:13:11] Client config found, loading data.
[13:13:11] Finished fah_main status=59
[13:13:11] mdrun_gpu returned 59
[13:13:11] GPU memtest failure
[13:13:11]
[13:13:11] Folding@home Core Shutdown: GPU_MEMTEST_ERROR

Do I have a bad card, or am I missing something?

Start HERE, you need to test the memory using MemtestG80 or something similar.

The programs fail to recognize the card. Either no CUDA hardware detected, or No OpenCL platforms detected.

Any hints, or flags that might help it initialize?

Try: Uninstall and reinstall drivers with the clean install option.  Use latest WHQL 301.10

not true depends on WU
my gtx 570 does 24Kish on the 3,843 points units
but it does around 18k on the 7718 points units, gpu load is around 85% on those WU

Thanks staypuft.  I had actually figured out the c;ient-type/beta bit, but was missing the gpus.txt piece so didn't think I had it right.

Been a very long time since I folded (pre-gpu folding days), but going to try to do some as I can now.  Of course, it's also getting hot in the cave now so I'll likely just do it overnight.

Clean driver install didn't work, but after completely removing and reinstalling both the driver and V7, I'm finally in business.

Way to go staypuft!

Re:GTX 680 folding 2012/04/23 06:39:46 (permalink)
Alright, the issue that I'm having seems to be time dependent.

During the week, the card can only fold from the evening until morning EST. This past weekend, I was able to fold on both the GK104 and GK114 slots without any interruptions, only to have the problem return Monday morning.

It does not seem to coincide with any processes/updates/services on the machine, as far as I can tell.

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Has this been improved on yet or are we still only getting 20-22k PPD on a 680?
