Hey all,

I've noticed some of my games on steam (Sanctum 2 and Civ 5) have a flashing color bar switching between several neon colors very rapidly on the left perimeter of my monitor.  I've reinstalled my driver (332.21) and made sure everything is up to date with a clean/custom install.  I also noticed similar games on similar engines such as Chivalry MW and Chivalry DW do not have this symptom as well.   Thanks in advance!

Do you have two cards in SLI? If so, is it possibly that you accidentally enabled SLI visual indicators in the NVIDIA control panel? SLI visual indicators show how load is shared between cards and appears as multicolored bars.

What is your monitors native screen resolution?
Are you running these games at that same res?

All the resolutions match. To be specific, these games haven't changed at all w.r.t. graphics settings.  I believe this happened after a steam update.

Just had this with my 760GTX. Disabling RTSS (Rivatuner OSD) fixed it.

I'm having the exact same problem. I only noticed this after uninstalling MSI afterburner and Rivatuner. I only briefly installed afterburner and rivatuner, didn't like them so they got uninstalled and now I have this annoying blinking bar on the left side of the screen. I have no idea is afterburner has anything to do with this but the problem popped up after I tried the program. But it is uninstalled so what else can I do?
If I leave Precision completely off this annoying bar doesn't show up, but then I can't control the speed of my fans. Any solution to this yet?

I too am having the exact same problem with an EVGA GTX 980 Ti. The flashing bar shows up in games, benchmarks, etc... If I close out Precision X the bar goes away. I have tried Precision X 5.3.10 and 5.3.11 and both the issue. I've downloaded each directly from EVGA's website. I've cleaned driver installs with DDU and reinstalled multiple times including an older driver I knew to work. I then double checked my system for any trace of MSI afterburner and Rivatuner but was unable to find any.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I just got my GTX 1080 & I am also having this issue. With Precision X turned off it's not there. Has anyone been able to solve this issue?

The culprit is a setting in Precision X called "FCAT Overlay" You must click Monitoring Settings and uncheck it at the bottom. Then you can leave the overlay on or off no problem, it's a feature, not a bug. Still annoying.

Awesome dude!! Glad it worked :) I'm planning on getting a 1080 soon, can't decided between the EVGA Classified or the MSI 1080! The classified seems really cool. Enjoy the card. You're lucky to have gotten one so early!

Thanks again man! Yeah the EVGA cards look amazing, I was one of the lucky people that was able to get a pre-order in on the 20th, & I am absolutely loving this card! :D

Thanks, man.  For once the first result googling this led to an instant solution.

This has been an issue on my 970 for a couple of weeks now thanks for the solution but why all the sudden is this a problem? Is it because of the new Precision X
