Hey everyone I am a complete idiot when it comes to computers so keep this in mind. I currently have an alien ware x51 that a got a couple years ago. My brother had an old GTX 660 TI not being used and said i could use it. I hooked it up and it seems that my computer is not "taking" it. It seems like my computer is running with out the graphics card or that is my guess at least. I was told that once i hook up the 660 i would have to update the drivers but it just seems like my computer isnt even recognizing the card
i3-2120 CPU @ 3.3
6 gb ram
windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Currently that is what i have, im not too sure where to find my PSU info. Please what ever help you can give is greatly appreciated. Like i said im not very good with computer but i know that the card was installed correctly, at least physically.
I was replacing a Nvidia 545 GPU

    The X51 R1 should be able to use the 660 ti without a problem. Is the motherboard bios update to date? Did you plug in both 6-pin power connectors?

    I did plug in both cords, it was a tight fight bc of that actually :P. I am gonna check for the Bios update right now. Thanks for the response ill see if this works :)

    My bios is currently A06. I found the current bios for my model which is A14 but i have to download the A07 version first, at least that is what the error message says. I just want to confirm if this is normal to download multiple version. THanks again for all the help

    So after downloading both new bios updates my computer seems to recognize the new card :) thanks for the help. Now i just have to make sure the drivers are updated for it. Thanks again!!!
