So I've done some tweaking and playing around with my fans and clocks. I've decided to turn my CPU clocks down to 3.5ghz because I saw ZERO difference from 3.3 to 4.0 except hotter temps. I did some other tweaking and switched some fans around and their speeds. Also hooked the Corsair H60 pump straight to the PSU instead of on the mobo so it doesn't get dialed down at any point. My CPU is now idling at 30-34c depends on what applications I have open. I did a 30 min test on Prime95 and I don't think it ever broke 55c on full load. I guess I'm pretty happy with my CPU temps, and I'm going to keep it going for the rest of the night to break in the paste. I'm still having issues with my GPU. I've managed to get it down a bit, but no where that I would like it to be with my setup.

I just wanted to let you know that I have two 560ti video cards in SLI and to keep them cool I have 4 120mm fans in the mesh of my Corsair white 600T Special Edition. The hardest GPU based software is probably folding at home. That is because it utilizes 99 percent of the GPUs all the time while it runs. My temps are 78 for the video card in the primary slot and 76 for the video card in the secondary slot while running folding at home. My CPU runs at about 42 degrees with an overclock of 3.6GHZ.

The H60 is a simple to use cooler that has pretty good cooling, but is not actually quite as good as top of the line air-coolers. The issue is mostly surface area as the rad on it is just too small. Anything over abou 3.8 will produce some pretty high temps with that cooler. Also since your temps are not going down at all and that you have gotten a new case and all I would say get the replacement from Newegg while you can. It will cost you shipping to them, but 10 bucks is not too bad to see if it is the card. Good luck and nice looking build!

For my 560 ti SC, my fan speed has to be at 75% to maintain my GPU temp at around 80-83 degrees when running RIFT. Is this normal or is my card overheating/bad from the factory? My case is a Antec 902, With all case fans at medium speed.

Thanks for the compliment on the computer - This is my 4th computer build and usually I try to save a little bit of money when building; This time I tried to get more 'future proof' gear, so this would be my first high quality build with more expensive components. I'm totally in love with PC, and I really like how it turned out (and I'm definitely diggin' the appearance). The white (inside and out) case, GTX 560 Ti, dual RAM, Corsair PSU / water cooler, great cable management, and tons of badass looking fans makes it look like a $2.5k computer instead of the $1.1k I spent (I also bought a HDMI Monitor, new mouse/keyboard, headset, and a few other smaller things - which would put to total cost closer to $1.4k.) I looked up similar pre-build computers at reputable custom PC sites and found out I save a boat load of money; not counting the fun, personal attachment, and accomplishment of doing it myself. Yeah, I see how surface area could make a bit of difference. Honestly I would love to go full custom water cooling, but I just don't have enough knowledge / experience to put one together. I'm sure they're pretty pricey too - and I just don't see the point with the components I have. As of now, I turned down the CPU overclock down to 3.6ghz from 3.3ghz (because I really didn't see much of a difference at 4.0ghz), and I only see about 1 degree change in temps. I can overclock pretty much all the way to 3.8ghz without seeing any temperature difference. Once I get to 4.0ghz and above, it goes up to 38-40c idle, which is still decent.) I guess I'm fairly happy with the H60. I had higher hopes for it, reading some reviews of idles temps in the 20s and 40s under full load. Right now as I'm posting this comment, it's idling at 34c (with case fans all on low/medium). I'm using CPUID to monitor temps, and it's 34c on the surface; my core temps usually run 2-3c less. I might go back and exchange it for the more expensive model (H70/H80/etc..) to see better temperature differences; or get a nice air cooler. I am VERY happy with the NZXT case - has great air flow, and it is literally whisper quite until the case fans get above medium speed. I love how it looks and really helped general temps because there's no cables obstructing air flow. It also has plenty of intake/exhaust fans to exchange air. 140mm front intake - 200mm top exhaust - 140mm rear exhaust - 200mm side intake - (x2)80mm lower side intake. I'm still going to have Newegg send me a new GPU and I'll compare results with the two. I'm hoping I just get a more well made card, with generally lower temps. The shipping costs to send one of the cards back to them is worth it to me (considering I spend about $5-6 in gas driving to Fry's Electronics in download San Diego)

BTW - I've been running Prime95 (using the blend stress test) and changing core clocks to see the temperature changes. I've been able to go all the way to 3.8ghz before breaking the 60c mark. At stock 3.3ghz settings, it will stay between 54-56c under load. Does anyone have a Intel Core i5 2500k SB, that I could compare temps with? Or anyone that's using any of the H-series Corsair water coolers?

@LilDrunkenSmurf (Jory Irving) My @nvidia 560ti superclocked is already toast after 2 months. Stock speeds and up to date drivers killed it. Sigh. This is true, the default automatic fan never goes above 50% when running highend games and temps get in the 90s! I had to use "software automatic fan control" in EVGA Percision to custom set the fan speeds. The fan speed must be at 75% when running highend games to keep the temp in the mid-high 80s. I have a Antec Ninehundred Two with plenty of case fans so thats not the problem. Also not Overclocking my CPU. This seems very hot considering my friends 550 Ti is quite and cold with a crappy case.

I know how you feel, just doesn't seem right. These cards shouldn't be running this hot; and so far I only noticed decent FPS gains... I totally understand it's not the BEST card out on the market, but it's definitely not a crappy card by any means. Paired with a good system, this thing should FLY! I've put a lot in my system and I'm so happy with how it turned out. I feel that since I'm unsatisfied with the GPU, it really lowers my happyness level with this system. It really sucks because I'm totally enjoying the performance on ALMOST all levels; but it only takes one component to piss you off and ruin the euphoria. For the new EVGA models @ $250 I expected high FPS, lower power consumption, and less heat. 1 out of 3 is disappointing in my book... Newegg only does exchanges for the same exact card (which blows because I was going to refund this one and get the Twin Frozer instead) So, hopefully I'll have better luck with the new card.

Called Newegg today and requested an RMA. I asked for the "Advanced Replacement" service, they processed my RMA, and will be shipping a replacement card out tonight. They are sending it as an 'overnight' delivery so hopefully I'll be receiving it by Wednesday. Amazing. I will update and post the results when I get the new one. Wish me luck! Cheers for Newegg's A+ customer support! BTW - If you get a defective item and you think it was because of their shipping providers absolutely horrid handling of the package, NEVER request an RMA based on a damaged shipping box. They would have to process a "claim" to the shipping company and you will have to send pictures as proof of damaged goods. This can take weeks, and may not even be accepted. Ask for "Advanced Replacement" - They ship you the new product overnight, and give you 30 days from when the item leaves their facility to return the defective card. On top of that, they email you a print-out of a UPS label, and if you ship the product back within 7 days, the return shipping is free.

Would redoing the thermal paste on the video card void the lifetime warranty that it comes with? Mine runs hot too but it works like a beast.

I'm not sure they would ever know unless you did a horrible job taking it apart and putting it back together. I looked and there isn't any stickers or anything covering the screws - maybe I'm wrong so I would do some research before doing it.

You won't void the warranty by replacing thermal paste. If you physically damage the card then it will be subject to review but just replacing the thermal paste won't.

I received my RMA card yesterday. The sent the new card out the SAME DAY I had called them, and it came UPS the day after. Good work Newegg. The first GPU I got was secured in that recycled brown cardboard like material. So, right when I unboxed the new one, right away I noticed it was different. It came in the see through plastic casing that GPU's usually come in, and the box didn't see like it had been opened. Ambient temps in my room were about 28-30c I let the card idle to get a bit warmed up for a good 15 mins. I loaded up my fan profile that runs the fan 10% less than the current temp. (50%/60c; 60%/70c, etc..) Started EVGA OC Scanner (I waited for idle temps to drop 34c or less) Test 1: 98% load limit, w/Stress Test [120 sec] - 66c full load Test 2: 98% load limit, w/Stress Test [300 sec] - 72c full load So, the results ended up being about 10-20c cooler than my last card. I was very happy how the tests came out, and it was definitely saw a difference. I started up RIFT, at ultra settings, [1080p 1920x1080] = 69-72c under load. (w/ super sampling = 73-75c) The last card I had couldn't run RIFT under 80c at medium settings, and broke the 85-89c mark on ultra settings. I didn't even test super-sampling because it probably would have went over 90c TBH, I was hoping for 5c less on my temps because of my massive case airflow. Temps did rise 2-3c after playing RIFT for a few hours. All-in-all, I'm very happy with my new card; temps are within a reasonable area; AND I saw better FPS while gaming. I'm going to take my old card apart (before I send it back to Newegg) and practice re-applying the thermal grease. I ordered some MX-4 and will be putting that on my new card - maybe I'll get an extra 5 degrees lower while under load. I have a feeling my case airflow setup (As good as it is at pushing/pulling air through) isn't really helping the GPU as much as my CPU. My H60 is made to pull air into the case to cool the CPU, which kinda messes up the front-to-back airflow. Because I'm getting pretty low temps on my CPU, I might try putting the fan back to exhaust instead of intake. Because the CPU Rad is pulling cool air into the case, my side 200mm is being used as an exhaust to pull hot air out from the GPU; I actually got lower temps doing it this way. If I get my case flow back to the norm, and I'm able to push air onto my GPU without screwing the entire flow up, I think I'll get even lower GPU temps. BTW - USERS BEWARE - NZXT Phantom side panels are VERY poorly designed! you WILL NOT be able to set up a push/pull with a radiator connected to the rear fan because the 2nd rad fan will not allow you to close the side panel door (the fan is too far up the side of the panel, and won't clear the rear fans). Furthermore, using a CM Hyper 212 will also make contact with the side fan, and you won't be able to close the panel. I'm sure this will be the case with MANY other CPU coolers as well... So pretty much you have a choice between good CPU cooling, or a side panel fan. BAD DESIGN NZXT - TISK TISK TISK!!!

Glad to see that the new card changed things around. I wonder why they sent out the original card as 'new' when it has issues. As a side note the two 560ti DS SC's that I got were in the brown carton like materials and were static sealed from the EVGA factory. I haven't had a single problem with them and my card is running FTW speeds without artifacts or anything at all. I don't even breach over 74c playing any of the games I currently run, I don't even get over 65c in the ToR beta.

Should be fine. Just run the precision or afterburner software to adjust your fan profile and you should be good to go. I had lived in Florida previously and my temps were a bit strange outside the machine but precision helped keep my GPU within reasonable limits.

For hard drives go with what you can afford that is a good quality as well. I prefer Western Digital but Seagate is alright as well. I happen to have Western Digital drives and Samsung but I'm looking to get a Corsair or OCZ SSD eventually.
