Thanks EVGA for making the backplate available to everyone. I've not seen pics highlighting key features so here you go. Enjoy..

The plate arrives in a bubble pouch, wrapped in cling film. Also included is a color installation page and bag of screws which will replace eight specific ones removed from pcb:

The backplate has a nice brushed finish, quality standoffs, little spacer bumps, and a good size thermal pad. The pad is soft and will gently engulf a sizeable area behind the GPU, wicking away a bit of heat and spreading it across the backplate. Temp drop is very minor;  but it's nice to know the backplate has some functionality:

A trick to removing the foam strip.. point a hair dryer at it for a minute or two. Then peel an end away, insuring the adhesive is coming off with the strip. Afterwards, simply follow installation instructions. In a few minutes ur done. Here are mine.. :)

Oh you're talking about the high flow bracket? EVGA did do a deal were you just paid shipping on the bracket. I think the code for the free bracket is under the My Products and then click view on the video card, but I'm not sure if this promotion is still good?

HMMM, I can't decide if I need the backplate and the high-flow...... though it does say it helps a lil to stabilize temp, I'm really only interested in this for cooling benefits. though honestly I don't NEED to overclock this 480 superclocked ... much more, or any, whatsoever. lol!!  it's fast as hell as-is that's for sure!

Seeing that the backplate is attached to 4 holes in diamond around core makes me curious if it'd still work with 3rd party coolers that are attached to the 4 holes at core's corners.

Like the new AC's, for example:

..would require either drilling few new holes to mount the AC's cooler all the way through both PCB&backplate or 4 new bolts&nuts to swap backplate's fastening other way around.

Would still prefer to have the backplate for some aesthetic value as well as to protect the card. Already have to thank MSI's MB designers who in their great wisdom left ~2mm gap between graphics card's PCB and ram's locks..

Well damn, if I ever get this project done I'll toss a pic or two. Or a warning to anyone who tries the same. ;x

Is this just a "for looks" type of thing or does it really serve some kind of purpose? I have a GTX470 that I would love to get a little cooler...

Well, it does attach to back of the core with heatpad so some heat will transfer to the backplate. Would still assume that it'll be more effective in "aesthetic" and "protective" areas than actul "cooling". ;x

Mini-rant: why can't they be shipped in normal mail? EU version costs 19.90€ and another 19€ for shipping. >w<
