I know GIGABYTE uses military components in their build (or Im pretty sure they do) I have a GIGABYTE G1 970 and that thing is a beast. It overclocked well, it stayed very cool with the 3 fan cooler design, it barely ever throttled frequency only at temps above 70C and it's one of the better looking cards IMO. So if your leaning towards a brand besideds EVGA I'd say your best bet is going with GIGABYTE.

Stay away from the FE models as they can initially OC well but will clock down to stock clocks because of thermals. If you are water cooling then you'd be ok. The SC is best bet. They OC just as well as a FTW or classified and you don't need extra cables or power. The only draw back is RGB if you care.

Well, I caved in a got an EVGA 08G-P4-6284-KR GeForce GTX1080 Gaming ACX 3 for $582. Used jet.com no free returns, paid with debit card and used shop10 for an extra $50 off. I'll be happy with a 1900mhz boost OC which should be fairly easy to hit.

Thanks for the help guys...I couldn't stay away from EVGA or the beefy looking million phase EVGA boards.
