Happens frequently on videos.. Even on facebook.. I hit a certain video and the screen goes black, looses connection. Sometimes it comes back.. sometimes not..
This is so awesome.. This is totally why I "upgraded".. So I could have blackscreens every single day..
I can't even upload a dxdiag here? To top it off the card even overclocks terribly.. Not even 2000... I paid more, for a worse card than the FE apparently..

I would suspect your hdmi cable. Have you verified on another TV or monitor?

Thanks for the info but I'm not sure how you could be jealous of a card, that overclocks like garbage and blackscreens constantly..

I yelled loudly at it... And threatened to make it sit in the corner..
When that didn't work I uninstalled drivers with DDU and reinstalled clean.. Reseated the card..

Is your motherboard bios current? Does running the gpu fan on max speed help prevent the problem? Does running the card in debug mode/underclocked to nvidia 1080 reference speeds help prevent the problem? Does the black screen occur on all outputs (dp, hdmi, dvi)? Does running the pci-e slot in gen2 mode help prevent the problem? What is the make/model/age of your psu? Is your tv running the latest firmware?

To me it sounds like you're not running the card at a stable clock speed. Dial back your OC and see what happens

This. I had a similar issue with my 1070 while playing Overwatch. The screen would go black, minus the game's HUD / GUI. Only way to fix it in session was to change from fullscreen to windowed, then back to fullscreen. I dialed my overclock back by ~25 mhz and I haven't had the problem since.

I was/am having the exact same problem.

I thought I was going crazy lol and I might be the only one with this problem.

I have a Samsung 40in ju7100 that was freezing and going to a black screen mainly watching Twitch streams.

Youtube was also not loading videos sometimes.

BTW this happen on TWO different cards, a EVGA 1080 founders edition and a EVGA 1080 SC.

For now it seems updating/re-installing Flash has fixed the problem.

Dude, you got questions for days..lol.. Thanks.
Do my best to answer them.

Made a custom fan profile, that is aggressive and the temps are better than I'm use to actually. lol.. Never even gets close to 80c.

I ran the card in games and stress tested it, benched it in Valley, Haven and firestrike.. It's solid and doesn't blackscreen.

This is via HDMI. I don't have a DP cable and I don't even think this TV had a DP input..

Gen 2 would be slower but I don't think that's the cause.. It's videos.. Seems to be a very certain type of video even, after testing it for a while.
Those ones people post on facebook, seemingly from phones or something. Player that has black bars on the sides. Blackscreens even if I don't play the video..
Just having it, in still motion and scrolling to it, makes it blackscreen.

Make of the PSU is good, Corsair 850, high rated PSU. Not old at all. System is only a couple years old.

    TV auto updates firmware..

Idk...Guess I'm just going to have to bang my head against the wall for a bit and figure it out..

I had this happen to me in the past as well. Hopefully a reinstall of flash works for you. Also had a weird windows 10 error that prevented certain players from working. Used an alternative player and it worked. This issue went away with a reinstall of 10.

The black screen thing could be the driver crashing due to unstable overclock.   Also what's your Power Supply could be power issue if the card isn't getting enough juice.
It's completely a silicon lottery EVGA isn't binning the GPUs for the FTW boards, so sounds like you might of gotten one that can't quite hit 2Ghz.

My buddy just got a FE card that can't go beyond 1940Mhz he starts getting artifacts or driver crashes.    So seems it's completely luck of the draw.

Flash player does that even on a normal PC when it is wacked.  It does it more with the higher resolution you go.

Yea, my card OC's like crap on the core but insanely on the memory. However I dropped the OC and it still happens.
I've thoroughly stress tested the card, in various benchmarks and games and it is stable, as a one legged man in an butt kicking contest..
Or a two legged man.. Whichever is more stable..
    Thanks for the info.

What I am basically saying Flash is a jacked up system.  I own a IT firm and we see the issue all the time with customers.  So its not just the 1080.  Apple products are about the only system that always work with YouTube without issue.

For anyone else, i had a similar issue @ 4k. Desktop and apps etc where fine, so too was loading a game, but the moment the game loaded and you are about to play, the display would drop and blackout. Ended up trying a different HDMI cable (both cheapy £5 ones by the way) and voila, worked a dream

Good to see you got it fixed

Also, if your Win 10 is an update over previous OS, I highly recommend a "clean install" of Win 10

Are you OCing the system ?

Make sure you did not OC the PCIe bus ( is your RAM running XMP )

If you are not happy with your OC on your GPU, you could always check the factory TIM application

Little update.. Reinstalled flash but it was still happening..
Reset factory defaults on my TV and ran the firmware updater..
    Problem fixed..
Idk.. But hey, if you run into this, something to try.
