Hello,

i purchased 2 months ago a GTX 1060 SC 6GB and i mainly play League of legends and World of warcraft. LoL settings at max runs smoothly and the gpu temperature never goes up. Meanwhile, when i launch WoW ( at high  - level 7 settings) and even while being in character selection, gpu temprature rises to 87 degrees and fan is running at almost 90% (which is way too loud). I do not believe this is normal? i updated the bios  posted in other threads and i am really desperate trying ot figure out if this is a normal thing or what else i can do.

Help appreciated thanks!

I tried with the tower box side panels open. temperature didn't drop as i was saying the temperature gets high as soon as i launch the game and only remains cooler than 8-+ degrees at video details lower than 3  ( on a scale of 10). As for the thermal paste, i am not familiar with opening the plastic shroud to reapply paste. What's next step?

Remove the 4 screws from the PCB that surround the GPU chip to take off the ACX cooler/fan and expose the GPU chip..Clean up the GPU chip and the cooler's cold plate with isopropyl alcohol and a cloth..Apply a rice grain sized drop (or slightly larger) of MX-4 or equivalent thermal paste to the center of the GPU chip and reassemble, don't overtighten the screws, 'very snug' will do, and don't forget to plug in the fan connector again..Simple..Replacing the thermal paste will not void the warranty as long as you don't break/scratch the card somehow..You can also use EVGA Precision XOC to make a custom fan speed curve for better cooling.

You can get a small tube of thermal paste somewhere for probably much less than you'll pay for shipping to EVGA and replacing the thermal paste is easy and quick..Prolly take about 1/2 hour.
