Thanks for the PM - Up until now I have not folded ever before.. I sat around thinking about it when I got the PM and wondered why I hadn't considering I have a highly capable system.. Anyways, I am all set now.. I have a question though - It looks like it is currently only running on *ONE* of my GTX 275's. I went in and disabled SLI before running this so is that why it is not doing both? I would like to use the PC some when home from work but have no problems folding on the CPU and both GPU's when not on it. An explanation on how to utilize and make it work on whichever or all if I want would be awesome. I am signed up in his name so points should be funneling his way as well.

Disable SLI then run 2 instances, 1 for each GPU. There are some stickies in here to help you set it up.

Yeah, I figured SLI would have to be disabled so I did that already. Also, thanks Slayer for the quick PM I will read through it and get it going on both GPU's. One more question! I would imagine gaming (obviously) would be hard on a GPU and CPU that are folding but how about simple web surfing? I should be okay to do that while everything is folding? Pardon the noobish questions I am just trying to figure out the best way for me to maximize the potential to help AB and me being completely new to this doesn't help it, lol..

surfing is fine. I fold 100% of my CPU and my 260 while browsing and it only feels about 5% slower. Mainly because CPU usage is mostly idle processes not actual work, so, although usage is 100% 25% of that is likely idle.

Just saw the PM Slayer. I like this idea! Great way to show our support for Afterburner! And it's nice to see that so many people have already chipped in! I just switched over a GT220. I'll be switching the 250 and 275 shortly.

Im confused... The link you sent me slayer says there should be a folder calld appdata and i don't see it anywhere under c:\users\ Is it because I am on Win 7? Or, is it because I didn't download the client from the page it is referencing? I got the client from the EVGA home page.

Appdata is hidden. In Win 7 search for %appdata% (including the %) and it shows up. And the clients is fine

The second 275 currently does not is this why I am getting this error? http://www.theafterlifels.../rona/foldingerror.png

Yes. You need to either have a 2nd monitor or dummy plug. If your monitor has more than one input then you can get around this. Mine has a DVI and RGB. I used the DVI as primary and after getting into the OS I attached my DVI cable and DVI-RGB adapter to the RGB port on my monitor, I could then extend my desktop to the "other" monitor. This will have no effect on your current display and you can remove the cable from the GPU until you need to start the client again.

Would putting a DVI -> HDMI or DVI -> VGA on the second GTX 275 fix it? Or, does it have to really see a monitor? This monitor does have a VGA input (I am currently using the DVI). I also have my new 46" LCD that I am using a DVI -> HDMI converter on. Could I just plug that into the second GTX 275 and it should work?

Okay, all set. 2x GTX 275 and my i7 folding for AB. One last questiong though, please... Is it normal for it to only stress the CPU to around 15% load or so? I was always under the impression that it pushed it pretty hard and I am only seeing 15'ish%. Thanks.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

OK running a 8800 Ultra fan 100%. What is a safe max temp for my card? I want to crank it up and get AB as many points as possible. Right now I got core at 702 and shaders at 1728 with temp at 66 C

Thanks. changed it to 665core/ 1804 shaders/ 1100 mem. Temps is hovering between 64-66 still but the work load performance is now at 500-520 ns/ day vs teh 470 it was a bit ago. Thanks

675core/1840 shaders now...This is for you AB!!! I am not a regular folder but I will do this the entire month of February for him and his son's memory. Oh and I have 3 roommates so we split the bills 4 ways. Lately it has only been $100 total for electricity. I can blame the spike for February on running the heater. :)

But that might not be a bad idea anyways. @ clo007 the 14th of feb Change it back to your name please so it doesn't mess with the new promotion. Thanks

Those are some wicked shaders Clo007 Shane did say it doesn't matter much, but it'd probably be best to stop on the 14th when the next promotion period starts. If some people forget a while to switch doesn't seem like a big deal but no reason to do it intentionally. he was just over 5 mil when we started so this will be a big boost.

Slayer made a second thread (it's linked in the OP of this one) to send a card, I think that's what you mean by sign-up. You can PM/email him your signature and he will add it to a card sent by Folders/forum members. For this you just need to switch any GPU or other clients to his name (Afterburners) -- check the original post.
