new bigadv/bigbeta projects
by kasson » Fri Jul 27, 2012 12:07 am
We are releasing several new bigadv and bigbeta projects:

Project 6905: base points 18165, preferred deadline 4 days, final deadline 10 days, k-factor 38.05
Project 6906: base points 25233, preferred deadline 4.5 days, final deadline 12 days, k-factor 37.31
Project 8102: base points 22607, preferred deadline 2.4 days, final deadline 4 days, k-factor 49.43

These should complete our move to the points guidelines we adopted around the beginning of this calendar year. We do continue to periodically assess bigadv performance and update our points guidelines and benchmarking procedures. We may perform some minor tweaking, but we expect the next assessment to take place around the end of this calendar year.

Thanks for participating in the bigadv program and for folding!

I get an occasional 8102, but have heard of no one getting the 6905 or 6906.. just the boring lower PPD 8101's.
I'm a little off topic, but had some hopes that these wu's would be similar to the (now defunct) 6903 and 6904 with corresponding QRB results...

You found that thread!  I was searching for it a while back when the 8057's had been announced but were not available - I wanted to post in that thread at ff.org where everyone was saying "where are the 8057's?" saying they were visiting their cousins the 6905s and 6906s.

But, I would not expect the new ones to have similar points to 6903/4.  The 6903/4 were killed off because certain people had figured out a way to get them exclusively while everyone else was getting 8101's.  If they bring their replacements back, I'm pretty sure they will be adjusted downwards to foil the cherry-pickers.

Yep, I found it:

Sometimes the more they try to hide things the easier it is to locate them...lol
It's only partially about the points for me.. I was looking fwd to a little variety!! They should do away with all the pretense and instead of calling it "-bigadv" folding just call it "8101" folding!

Yes, I've been in "8101-ville" all month, "no soup for me"!    Miss those 8102s and agree that I'd sure like to see some variety in those Bigadvs (like we used to have).  What we have now with the 8101s, feels like being stuck on an endless string of 2684s back in the old-Bigadv-days.

I have an 8102 folding now so don't shoot me. I have had about 4 8102 in the last month, 5 6901  and the rest 8101 on the 5 boxes I have running.

You have my infinite praise if you can still snag some of them.  I used to get them back-to-back for weeks which was a "gift from the Folding Gods".  I must have angered them and now they have dried up.  I may have to do the reverse underwear and ruby red slippers thing myself!

Hope this doesn't happen soon to these juicy 8057 WUs and like the Bigadvs, I look forward to a variety of these new QRB-tipped GPU WUs.

I've some some shoes that I have to keep in the basement because they'd cause that witch's feet to curl up and suck under the house all over again!  Course, I'd never treat a pair of RR slippers that way.  They wouldn't fit my Sasquatch feet anyway!

I have a 680 folding nicely with my old 260 using the GPU Tracker.

Is the v7 client necessary to get these QRB work units and is my hardware compatible with the requirements for the WU's?

Thanks

I think so yes...

Just keep in mind that V7 will not allow you to have two different generation working on one MOBO, but Tracker does..

Haven't received a single P8057 WU on 4 GPUs with Tracker.. I love Tracker but 10X PPD, that will force me to upgrade.

considering QRB benchmark based on 460
260 won't do much

v7 will run both with a lot of work (manual setup)
not for faint of heart - there are a few running both

if you have to chose between running both with 20k+10K (no QRB)
or 1 for 140K (QRB) ...what do you chose?

Just raked up another HUGE batch of QRB goodness! GO EVGA!

If my last GTX 560 Ti picks up an 8057 that will be a record breaking (I think) 725,818 PPD for me!

Important Additional Info

If you haven't already - please don't forget to add Name: "next-unit-percentage" value: "100" to your v7 configuration, this will force v7 to only download a QRB when your previous unit hits 100% completion, instead of 90/95 or whatever it is by default - this will mean you wont lose a little extra QRB from a WU sitting idle for a few extra minutes!

Re:GPU points/QRB discussion 2012/11/16 04:26:15 (permalink)
Basically it doesn't allow the v7 client to download the next WU your GPU will work on until the previous one hits 100% completion. This means that you don't download a new WU a few minutes before your old WU has finished as during those few minutes you're losing QRB for no reason. Hope that makes sense :)

I got my first 2 last night. One rig picked up a second right away , the other didn't.

Showing:
Rig 1, 2600k + 560ti  42k ppd
Rig 2, 2600k + 460    86.5k ppd
When the 560ti had one last night, rig was getting 113k ppd

What a friggen game changer!

Edit: I just racked one in on 640(stock clock).  24k ppd for anyone interested. Currently out performing 560ti (8018) by 9k ppd.

Where? I never used V7 until yesterday

expert mode, Configure>expert>extra client options

add what he said to that field with no quotes

SO it looks like this when done?
