Hi I own a GTX Titan X SC from EVGA, and the EVGA backplate+hybrid cooler. A few moments ago the GPU just shut off and my whole pc turn off, no power. I try reset the motherboard bios, but the Titan won't turn on for less than a second. I have a backup GPU: PNY GT610 Low profile, this card works and my pc boot. It works in the same slot as the Titan X (now removed). I try my Titan X with friend's PC, same result. I don't know what is the problem, so I assumed it's dead. @ EVGA_JacobF I'm not sure what to do at this point? My Titan X is just about a year old, would you guys suggest an RMA or something else? I have the EVGA Backplate and Hybrid cooler installed, I assume these have to be taken OFF for RMA? These are separate purchases from the card itself. I also have a few scratches on the screw holding the front shroud + shroud hex screws, since the installation requires the removal of the stock shroud. Would this affect RMA eligibility? Please help me. Thanks in advance.

Contact support and start the RMA process. As for the back plate and the hybrid cooler yes they will have to come off. Your card will have to be in its original stock form when sent in. Also the scratches shouldn't be a problem as long as the PCB isn't damaged. If it's just the bracket and screws it should be fine.

Since this is clearly a case of GPU failure, I have emailed you directly with a support ticket number so you can request an RMA through our website. As zophar explained, you will need to send the card back to us in factory condition with all original parts attached. We do not need the accessories that came included with the card or the original box. More details in the shipping instructions once your RMA is approved.

Are you sure this isn't a psu problem, maybe a large watt pull on the 12v rail is shutting the whole system down to prevent damage. A GT610 is good to check the rest of the system but it cant pull the wattage a titan can, not even remotely close. Try swapping a decent psu in there and see if that changes anything for you before you rma a perfectly working card. EDIT: Scratch that man, I just saw the last sentence that said you tried the card in another working pc with a no go result, so its def the card. Sorry about that. Yes, im a moron for not fully reading the post.... initiate ball busting now. :)

It's always a pleasure to see/read how great and uncomplicated EVGA's support is. Therefore my last 3 GPU generations were/are from EVGA too (2x GTX 670 FTW SLI, 2x GTX 780 Ti SC ACX SLI and now GTX 980 Ti Classified). And I can say the GTX 980 Ti Classy won't be my last for sure. :)
But enough OT: @STR8_AN94BALLER enjoy your replace GTX TITAN X when you get it. ;)

Sorry for omitting details System is 5820K with X99 deluxe, running off EVGA 750G2 power supply. Friend's PC is running a CX500 power supply, maybe that's why the card refuses to boot? I also check power connector once again for moisture or dust, seems to be nothing. Cleaned out with compressed air just in case. So I assume the worst and remove backplate for shipment. However I notice that there's oil stains all over the memory chips where the thermal pad is supposed to be (and the backside of the GPU die I think), warranty sticker came off with little to no adhesive left to secure on card. However this thread seems to indicate that it's fine as long as the sticker is safe and legible: http://forums.evga.com/Titan-X-backplate-amp-warranty-sticker-m2337725.aspxCould this cause a short somewhere in the PCB killing the card? Or is the warranty voided because of the backplate? EDIT: I just found a component sliding off the pcb. It's a little plastic square which seems to have it's solder melted off either end and wasn't held in place anymore. Looks like it warped a bit because of the heat. Maybe this is why my card fail? I did have the card pretty close to the CPU cooler, and it was running around 62c (hot). Not sure if this is the case or not. The plastic component says "330" and I can't make out anything other than that. It's those 3 squares on the back of pcb close to the ROHS mark: http://www.bjorn3d.com/wp...980Ti_SC_27.jpg?a38a9b I'm really scared right now :|

The oil you see is common; it's also non-conductive. It's unlikely to be the cause of your problems, and as long as you include the serial number sticker in the box should be no warranty issues.

STR8_AN94BALLER Ok, I'll include the sticker nonetheless.
Put the warranty sticker in a envelope, seal it and tape the envelope to the front of the card with warranty sticker written on the front of the envelope. Do not leave anything to chance. Also, make sure you take picts or video of your card before you package it just to cover yourself in case you dispute their findings. Most likely you won't need it but again do.t leave anything to chance.

It wouldn't hurt to send it in; just include it in the same bag you put the serial sticker.

That is indeed weird. Ive RMA'd 2 cards through evga, they were both flawless and I got the update 4 days after I shipped the card out, they emailed me the update the day after the card was received at their facility, and I got both cards back within 10 days, you might want to call just to check and make sure everything is going alright

If I ship by USPS, I pack the item as well as a retailer would ship merchandise to me. I send it no less than Priority Mail, with a tracking number and insurance for the value of replacement. Find your receipt. That is how you track your package! The Postal Service does not 'look' around for parcels or letters sent through the mail. That's a waste of time when there are literally over a hundred parcels, hundreds of magazines, and thousands of letters coming through an average size neighborhood post office on a given morning, more if the office is located near a lot of offices and businesses. The situation is even more ridiculous if someone calls UPS or FedEx to look for a single package without a known tracking number.

Just for future knowledge, any time I send in a high value RMA, say anything over 200 bucks, I take it to UPS, and they pack the package for me. That way, if it gets lost or broken during transit, they pay for the replacement. Thru UPS, they HAVE to pack it themselves for you to get any type of insurance on your package. Its safe, and its relatively cheap too, I think I paid around 22 dollars for them to pack it and ship it out 2 day air the last RMA I had.

I think you are referring to The UPS Store, which are independently owned sub-contractors to UPS.

Yep you sure can. The few times I have used UPS (pre-printed my own label) and tried to drop off at the "UPS Store" location near me they always shake my box and try to scare me into letting them open the package and "professionally" pack it since it's "rattling around". So... I opened a FedEx account, get a discount, and their location I can drop off 24 hours! Also even 1st class USPS packages include "tracking" as USPS calls it now. Good to hear the OP package made it there though!

Just store your original packaging from Evga product if anything ever happens and definitely don't use USPS for something of this caliber only UPS or FedEx I have used on video card RMA's never had to RMA a board but still keep my boxes put up in case never know. I also have never had issues with arrival from using either UPS / FedEx always on time and Evga is always blazing fast with new products and refund.

pittbull Just store your original packaging from Evga product if anything ever happens and definitely don't use USPS for something of this caliber only UPS or FedEx I have used on video card RMA's never had to RMA a board but still keep my boxes put up in case never know. I also have never had issues with arrival from using either UPS / FedEx always on time and Evga is always blazing fast with new products and refund.
I use mainly USPS and UPS to send or return items. I've sent two used EVGA graphics cards to people across the country using Priority Mail with no problems and timely delivery. I've had no issues sending items by UPS either, but many years ago I was having an engine built and had some ported aluminum cylinder heads shipped from a shop in SoCal to my engine builder who told me that the pair of heads were stolen from inside the UPS facility (not a UPS Store) at the point where the shop dropped them off for shipping. Apparently, someone inside UPS recognized the name of the shop and the heads disappeared out of the system without even leaving Los Angeles. Luckily, they were insured but it took weeks to get a new pair of heads prepped. I don't use FedEx only because USPS and the neighborhood UPS Store are more convenient but a friend sent an overnight document via FedEx to his headquarters of Siemens Corporation in the U.S. - missed the deadline due to late delivery and that's when my friend discovered that FedEx delivery drivers are not FedEx employees, but independent contractors. Any delivery service can have problems. Try 'em and see what works best for you.
