Hey, I built my PC just under a year ago now, constantly had issues with the GPU crashing. I am able to run games such as Rocket League, however Witcher 3 or Battlefield 4 I seem to get quite a lot of crashes. I'm now getting to the stage of trying everything thrown at me, I have tried sending the GPU for RMA and it came back not faulty. I know it has been around a year but troubleshooting is quite time consuming! Please see my build below:
  • Intel Core i5 4690K
  • MSI Z97 GAMING 5 Intel Z97
  • 8GB G.Skill RipjawsX 1600Mhz
  • Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD-RW
  • 650W EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1
  • 4GB Gigabyte GTX 970 Windforce 3 OC
  • WD 1TB 3.5 inch Internal Hard Drive - Caviar Blue
  • Crucial CT240M500SSD1
  • 24" Asus VG248QE
I have tried various things such as running memtests (on both sticks individually), intel burn test, GPU tests however I stumbled across a forum post, please see below:

Is the PSU that I have the same as the one in the article? If so, is it worth just outright buying a new PSU because of this?

    Welcome to the fourm,

Temp, voltage variations, driver conflicts can all cause issues.

HWMonitor is a nice free tool to look at temps & volts.

    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Step 1 go back to stock speeds if you have OC (overclocked) your system

Which form post were your trying to mention?  Look in your browser - the number at the end of the address is all you need to type if it is on EVGA form.

Yes I am aware, I have struggled with the issue for near on a year. Tried several clean installs, DDU for the Nvidia files. Memtest on the RAM, near enough the lot. So I'm starting to think it has to be the motherboard or PSU.

    Apologies, the link is below:

I've tried using HWMonitor and it shows the voltages as fairly low, when I go into the BIOS they seem to be different which is odd? Unless that is normal?

You can't post links on this forum until you have made somewhere around 25 posts. It's a bot/spam protection measure.

The post you mentioned does not say that there is anything dangerous or worrisome about the power supply. It doesn't even suggest that you may have issues with the power supply. All it says is that the power supply is mediocre for the price you pay and you should consider other options. I would hardly consider it in the back of my mind when troubleshooting your issue.

Some evga psu's are not the best and it would seem to be more of a batch thing...
Over at badcaps evga is considered a not so good psu maker. It's hit or miss depending on the model. Some of the older models are grate. But the newer ones seem to be midrange units.

Here is a post on bad caps with more in depth info.

Anyway if you have a multimeter try testing the output of the psu. Apps like hwmonitor are not the best at reading voltage.
Otherwise if its the only thing you can't rule out as being bad rma it. Evga should be more then willing to help you there.

I'm pretty sure you have that backwards. The NEX650G is an older model than the 650 G2. The G2 series is routinely one of the best reviewed models available.
