So I bit the bullet this year and went all out, GTX 1080 FE and a 1440p 144hz IPS Asus( regrettably adaptive sync), and of course hard times hit, my fiance lost her job and were getting married in October. So i've started the thought process of downgrading to drum up some money for bills/wedding (wedding is to close to postpone a lot already sunk into it) and I wanted to get suggestions on what to shoot for price wise what to ask for and if I should stick with the 1440p monitor or got 1080p?

Yea, I can get an idea from ebay but I would probably try these forums first, curious if a rx 480 or a 1060 would drive the 1440p monitor or just got 1080p and 1060 just looking for ideas...

Either a 480 or 1060 would drive 1440p - even a 970 can with some details turned down.  If you're gonna keep the monitor I would go with the RX480 because the monitor you have already supports Freesync...  Otherwise I would look at a used or B-stock 970 - they can be had pretty cheap as well.  Going with a 970/480 now lets you keep your budget down and later on you can SLI/CF for more performance when you have your funds back in order.
