How do I know? Simple... It has 3840 cuda cores. The 1080 is great at 2k as it has 2560 cuda cores. The 1070 is great at 1080p as it has 1920 cuda cores.

3840x2160 (GP102)
2560x1440 (GTX 1080)

Here's hoping it also will Overclock/Bench somewhat better than the GP104.

well, the GTX1070 reviews conclude that GTX1070 is an overkill for 1080p.

"overkill" is a word that is not in the PC dictionary. It might in consoles, but never PC.

Never settle for less, always prepare yourself, as new graphic engines enhance and become more advanced and complex, the 1070 will start to render lower FPS ratings.

maybe not for everyone but it makes sence more than ever.
the majority don't even know what a dictionary is, but that's another story.
the second sentence sounds like a cheap advertisement so I'll skip my comment on that.
still everyone who wants should go even with GTX1080 (or even SLI?) on 1080p, no problem at all for me.
