UPDATE: I did a tear down of the card just now, all the thermal pads and paste looked just fine as I suspected. There definitely are full chip indentations on the thermal pads, indicating they are making good contact, and everything looks to be put together as expected.

The Memory shouldn't run that hot, i guess the Sensor is giving wrong Info or is bad placed or the Software reads the Sensor wrong.
Also GDDR actually don't need extra cooling

another note: even over 90°C is still good, vram should not explode.

I think the reality is that people are just trying to understand what the reason for the significant delta is between the banks. I'll let EVGA comment on if there is a specific reason, but my card at least seems to be running totally fine despite the higher than expected memory temps in those two banks.

based on

EVGA_JacobF
It is normal to see a larger delta on the left bank and others.

i might be wrong but i think the sensor is not reading actually the VRAM temperature, i guess the sensor is placed too close to the cooling metal ( or VRAM Temp + thermal radiation from the heatpipe? ).
With some testing, Mathematics & adding measuring tolerance this can be fixed in a software Update.

I'm getting 20 degree difference between the GPU and the top bank of memory. I've seen it reach 93c when my GPU was at 73c.

I have been gaming for a good part of the day today, just checked my log:
Max temp showing on those two warmer memory banks - 74c and 73c.
GPU max was 62c.

Someone needs to put a thermal prob on the edge of a memory chip and compare the reading.

I "think" it was somewhere between 50-60%, but not totally sure.
I game in VR so have a headset on, and occasionally would peek at the Precision X1 screen on my second monitor. Kinda hard to do. I am guessing based on the slider's positions I tried to see when I would peek.

Man, I got such a dud card. Could you run it at full load and confirm what the fan speed/thermals is for me ? You have thermals I was expecting out of my ftw 3. My thermals are atrocious. You running stock or OC ?

Please elaborate, you want me to just put fans on full and report rpm?
If so, 3,000 rpm.

No I mean put the card under a full load work wise. You can put the fans to whatever was giving you 62c or 100% is fine, because I can only get my card to 70c stock at 100% fan speed. :(

I think his temps aren't as high because he's running VR which I don't think is running the GPU at 100% load like a ultra detailed high FPS game in 1440p or 4K would.

Just got my FTW3 installed, I too have a ~30° difference on the memory banks. Left side is ~55, other 2 are 80+

When PX1 breaks fans 2 and 3, those 2 mem banks get into the low 90s easily.

Memory should be around 75-85C. Double check your fan profile if you are seeing higher.

The fan profile that I can't make because if I use PX1 custom fan curve for a few hours it disables fans 2 and 3 until I restart the computer? This is when set to auto.

Which version of PX? This should have been fixed. Make sure you are using 3.5.1 www.evga.com/px1

No Jacob, it is not fixed in 3.5.1. Nor was it fixed in 3.4, or 3.3.1, or any other versions I'm told will fix it. I keep explaining the same thing over and over. If you let PX1 run overnight, IT BREAKS. As soon as I can see the wattage reads zero, I know its broken. Fans 2 and 3 are DEAD until restart. Do you see how all my sensors except the GPU read zero? Do you see that only Fan 1 works? Do you see that if I close and reopen it, it completely breaks and shows none of the icx sensors or fans? I'm extremely frustrated, because I've been reporting this same thing, over and over and over, all week. Just to be told to try the next version that has not addressed this problem. I paid $1400 to beta test this terrible software, software who's one PURPOSE is to use the features that supposedly make this card worth that extra $400 over MSRP.

A new day, a new, crappy, broken version of PX1.  This latest is broken is the exact same way.  Are you sure you're not just re-releasing the same exact version?

It might help to give them some info here on what is broken for you.
This latest version is doing a little better for me, in regards to fan control.
It is still in beta.

I’ve been on here giving a myriad of details on a daily basis.

So for $1,350 we all have to put up with flaky permanent beta software? There’s a reason it’s in permanent beta - it sucks and doesn’t work.

there's definitely a new bug with the fans with v0.3.5.1 of the x1 software.... eventually fans 2 and 3 will stop spinning resulting in overheating .. closing and reopening the software seems to bandaid until it happens again... its not safe to stress test while afk....

some more info: running single rtx ftw3 ultra 2080ti... I was testing manual overclocks after running oc scanner... and i had adjusted the auto fan curve to increase fan speed as well... while stress testing... temps shot up to 80c for gpu and 92-94 for membanks that are known to run hotter.. and i manually set all fans because i saw fans 2 and 3 were not running... restarting the application is what got auto working again... loading default values did not help..

anyone else running into this issue?

I have similar issue. Im running 2 x 2080Ti FTW3 in SLI with X1 v0.3.5.1 and updated MCUs. When I open X1 it stops fans 2 and 3 on the bottom card. I have tried swapping positions of the cards and its the same thing. If I don't open X1 and I don't want to overclock or mess with anything, all the fans work 100% as intended. Its just buggy X1 that screws up and overrides the automatic fan control. One thing I have noticed on the FTW3 cards is that the GDDR6 memory runs super hot. I have seen between 90-98 consistently even with the center fan running at 100% and the GPU temp at 83.

Tonight I forgot to apply my custom fan curve before a gaming session.  After a couple hours of COD BO4 Zombies I looked at my second monitor and saw the upper Mem bank at 88c-89c.  EVGA needs to figure out what is going on and update default fan curves if needed.  I can't wait for someone to make a block for this card.

Playing black ops 4
Gpu temp 71
Memory top and rigth modules 94 degrees
No oc and stock fan curve
All fans working.
Power limit 122%

I'm getting 20 degree difference between the GPU and the top bank of memory. I've seen it reach 93c when my GPU was at 73c.

Memory should be around 75-85C. Double check your fan profile if you are seeing higher.

For me playing Black Ops 4 with an overclock of +115 Core and +750 Memory with Power Limit/ Voltage maxed, fans at 100% my Top and right memory gets to 91C and GPU about 74C.  If I run stock clocks and power limit set to 100 as default the top and right memory gets about 83-85C and GPU at 69C, which seems like a normal expected result.

@EVGA_JacobF, is there an issue with overclocking these FTW3 cards and overheating with the increase Power Limit, am I risking any damage by keeping the card overclocked if the memory is getting up to 91C?

What is the airflow in your case like? Running Assassin's Creed Odyssey at 3440x1440 with max settings and the frame rate uncapped and I get max 56 C on the GPU and 64 C on the top and right memory banks. The GPU fans are running at 100%.

Granted I am using a Corsair 750D Airflow case and have every possible fan running at 100% so my airflow is about as good as it can get.

Edit: Forgot to mention my OCs. +140 on the GPU and +700 on the memory.
