- Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? USB in all ports is completely dead aside from powering devices. Disconnecting front panel cables from board doesn't fix the back panel headers.
- Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? Any device plugged into any port will not work, it will cause an exclamation mark in the device manager and the message will say the device is reporting errors, or just not be detected at all.
- Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? E760. Current BIOS = 64
- Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? Had the system about a month, one second it was working fine, plugged in my camera as I often do, it wouldn't install properly, then I discovered that my mouse/keyboard weren't working, and no USB device works anymore.
- Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? During boot up, was getting a "keyboard not connected" error message until I plugged in PS/2 keyboard and disabled halt on errors. Aside from getting power, nothing works connected to any USB port, period. In BIOS, or in Windows. Ever. I'm using a PCI USB hub to be able even use my mouse.
- Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? No RMA yet... am trying to avoid if possible... it's a pain in the butt... I was hoping maybe it's a BIOS issue.

1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? My USB mouse sometimes stop work and than come back to normal, i'm using a hp wireless mouse. In the beginning I thought was the mouse, than i bought a Logitech (wired) and the problem still. Also I thought maybe could be the video card, so I change it. The problem still there. Also I did everything I read in this forum such as Raise ICH. 2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? Any port. So far only mouse. 3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? A EVGA X58 SLI (132-bl-e758-a1) the last Bios version 4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? It is very random, than sometimes takes only seconds and comeback to normal. But for me it is really annoying because I use photoshop so i need a very responsive mouse. 5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? Only in the Windows, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit 6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? No I hope find a solution for that. Thanks Eduardo

1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? USB ports are not responing to some devices such as ipod touch 1g, ipod nano. It completely messed up both ipods that are now unusable on any computer. Oddly enough my Logitech G5 mouse works fine. 2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? All of them. 3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? EVGA X58 3X SLI, BIOS 73 4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? It occured right away from day 1 of building this computer. It occurs on every system boot. 5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? Don't know since the only thing it has recognized is the mouse and 1 flash drive i own. If not, which Operating System is being used? Windows 7 64-bit 6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? No If so did the issue go away or persist? All USB Devices installed: Ipod touch 1g (no longer works) ipod nano (probably 1g and no longer works) Logitech G5 mouse (works fine) 2 flash drives, 1 is old and has no brand name (512mb, no longer works), the other i found and also has no brand name except "iL1GB" (apparently works fine) Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T70 (doesnt work in usb mode, drivers fail to install when connected, and no longer works in usb mode in any other computer)

Ok Guy's... after day's of tinkering and adding/removing cards and win re-installs, I have found that the USB issues in my case was beign caused by Asus Xonar HDAV1.3 Deluxe soundcard. I removed it, and now my triple SLI with 3 screens is working perfectly. I will now go to the Asus forums with my soundcard issue. Thanks to all who replied! Happy camper now..... now I can really enjoy my triple SLI + 3 screen setup in 3D!! BFBC2 looks magnificient, although since the latest patch they broke the crosshair :-(

If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? The problem ocurred yesterday, suddenly while restoring an Iphone 3Gs. after a year of building the unit. The problem occurs on every system boot It all started when I plugged my iPhone 3gs to one of the front usb port and tried to restore it. There was a message that the device could not be installed (it was installed and working fine before) then I got this message: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) So this is what i did: I upgraded to the latest firmware. I restored to defaults, I reinstalled windows, I took off the batery and pressed the cmos button. nothing! I still have the problem! My rig was working just fine. At first, there were just one, then 2 and now there´s 6 hubs failing. As you can see in the pic attached I have a cable with a led, The led lights up in all the usb hubs including the dead ones, meaning they have energy. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? Yes it happens outside the OS Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? I think i solved this, on my system anyway. I went straight to the manufacturers web sites, intel, realtek, nvidia, usb drivers, ect., and downloaded every driver I could think of from their site instead of evga's. Well in short it fixed the problem everything is running fine now. I just did this tonight. Give me time and I'll post my specs. Btw I am running Win 7 ult 64 bit hope this helps.

Bumping this problem it would seem. Here's my report: USB mouse freezes on mouse movement in Win 7, 64 bit with KB freeze too on all three USB positions with characteristic USB disconnect/reconnect sounds and USB symbol change in taskbar. No event manager listings. All ports and devices fail and the failure usually continues into BIOS as a keyboard failure after several reboots. A long cold reboot (60 sec+) usually resets KB failure in BIOS and Win 7 USB will work again for 1 to 14 days before freezing again. Using X58 SLI with new version 77 BIOS. All new drivers for GPU, chipset, SATA. This problem began appearing about 6 weeks ago and continues after BIOS flashing, video, sound, SATA and USB driver updates, removing USB suspend configuration options in Device Manager and increasing ICH voltage to 1.15V. This freeze always begins within Win7 when moving the mouse. MBoard has not been RMA'd as this problem is sporadic and the MB can go two weeks without the problem returning. Hi, I have the same issue with USB lockups. I do not have an EVGA board instead I have an ASUS P6X58D-E. I will answer the USB questions anyway just to give you an idea of the same issue on another MB that uses the same SB, NB chipsets. - Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow?
My logitech G7 mouse will stop working. It will slow down first, then stop working at all. I must unplug it and insert it into anothe usb port. This may or may not solve the problem. If it doesn't work, I then try another port. It's random as to which port will work. On the other hand, the keyboard has never failed but does seem laggy at times (steel series). Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? They all fail randomly. My mouse failed once already while I am typing this. I switched the keybard and mouse usbs and the mouse is working again. - Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using?
Asus P6x58d-e - Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot?
Yes, problems occurred immediately and they continue to this moment. Tonight I have reset the mouse 5x already in a span of 2 hours. - Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used?
No, it does not appear to occur outside of the OS (Win XP SP3). - Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist?
Not an EVGA board but has same NB, SB. I am contacting ASUS for RMA. Another note - I do have a HAF X case. So USB freezes do not seem to be just EVGA MBs - the symptoms that my board exhibits are identical to that of the EVGA. Hope this is helpful

I think we're all pretty sure it's chipset related. My original e758 behaved badly with lots of random usb issues. The second 758 was much better and my 760 has been the best. The chipset voltage increase seemed to help the most.

alright this is whats happeneing to my X58 Classy3. If everything is disconnected, no USB ports work on power up. Have to keep changing ports to see my keyboard light up. Once it lights up we are good. As long as the USB ports are working and connected on power 'ON' and reboot we are good. But if i have to disconnect everything and power off for maintenance, nothing works on reboot.

Does anybody else notice the rate of these occurrences rise greatly during the (dry) winter months? IMO many of these have been caused by static electric discharge, and sometimes permanently damaged at that point. We run a humidifier to keep our humidity above 40% (relative). Allowing the humidity lower causes great risk of computer damage by static electricity. And if your carpet is less than a few years old, or if you wear hard rubber soles (heels count) on carpet, you may need even higher humidity to prevent excess static. Let's say you are charged, and pull your USB key out of your pocket. Now the USB key is charged too. When you insert it, the charge will discharge to the USB shell - if you are lucky - and if your ground is working. If it discharges to the wires contained inside, it may permanently damage your motherboard. It might do so anyway if the shell is not grounded well (bad connection). Actually, the spark will jump to the first path within the spark's jump range (depending on the strength of the charge), so if you stuck a corner of the USB shell into the socket just right the spark could jump to the wire contained inside first! Bam, fried USB hub (and possibly worse). Even if your board has certain conditions where it works right, such as fabbasi above, it still may have been damaged permanently by static electricity. I'm not saying that is everyone's problem, it is certainly not everyone's problem, but I think it is a factor for many. Just consider it please.

Main (gaming) rig: i7-3930K; Asus Rampage IV Extreme; H100 W/p-p Excaliburs, AS5; MSI 7870 2GD5/OC; Crucial M4 SSD 256GB. See my primary ModsRigs: Adam for the rest, and I have a second (wife's) rig Asus Rampage III Extreme & 960: Eve. Overclocking is useless to me if it is not rock stable.

some x58 owners have had to bump ich up to as high as 1.15 to stabilise not only usb but also SATA hardlocks and ethernet failures. its not just evga affected, though evga's default 1.05 inititially caused many.....

- Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? Lost all USB functionality and nothing is getting power. My board is a 750i sli ftw. Everything was working fine until today. Case ports and Rear ports don't work
- Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? Any and all
- Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? Latest, checked for updates monthly.
- Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? I've had the system running unchanged for at least 2 years without a problem. Problem does not go away upon reboot. USB ports permanently dead.
- Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? Problem exists during POST and boot up, can't enter BIOS because keyboard doesn't work.
- Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? I'm fairly sure it's past its warranty date so negative on the RMA.
I had a logitech g9 mouse and g15 keyboard plugged in when it decided to fail.

Everything is fine with my motherboard for USB but sometimes when I connect my Iphone 4, suddenly all USB devices will go dead. lights on keyboard and mouse will sometimes flicker for a second and then totally dead. Only solution after that is hard reboot. Even tried by plugging iphone in through powered USB hub and still same thing happens. But only every once in a while, no consistent pattern or anything. Very frustrating. Board is Classified E760 and I have current BIOS on board.

- Please describe the issue - USB ports sometimes die and have to reboot to get them back. I cannot boot with my keyboard on extended USB cable. I could boot with this extended USB cable on my E758 board no problem (VERY ANNOYING)
- Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? All ports, keyboard, mouse, external HDD
- Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? E770, Bios 77
- Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? Occurred after updating to bios 77. Hard to tell, new build.
- Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? No
- Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? No
FWIW, I increased IOH and ICH Vcores both to 1.2 and IOH/ICH to 1.6 to accomodate my SLI, SSDs, and OC. Still can't boot off extended USB cable....

Does anybody experience this with their motherboard watercooled (for a long time)? I wonder if this is some kind of degradation due to the heat... Classified boards run really hot with stock cooling.

zalbard Does anybody experience this with their motherboard watercooled (for a long time)? I wonder if this is some kind of degradation due to the heat... Classified boards run really hot with stock cooling. Half of them are caused by wintertime static-electricity due to humidity too low. This is why there is a resurgence of occurrences of this problem now.

Curios to know if this issue is similiar to the one just announced with the SATA on Sandy Bridge boards due to chipset degradation....

I had the same issue last night... and the only way for me to correct it is to umplug the PSU for 5 min at least and then everything is back to normail. the trigger was to connect the iphone 4G to the PC for a regular backup.
