In order to correct an issue, an engineer first needs a motherboard that exhibits the problem. We have tried and simply cannot reproduce this problem with the boards we have on hand, it seems that a limited amount of boards exhibit this issue so if we can get a board in house that will certainly expedite the process.

So is that asking someone who has one of these motherboards to get in contact with you and seen it in so you can perform test on it than?

I'm bumping this thread because it's extremely important that people are aware of this issue.

  1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? - My front USB ports are sometimes unresponsive, I plug in a device and nothing happens. A reboot usually fixes this.
  2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? - The front USB ports, my motherboard USB ports seem fine, I have yet to boot up and get a keyboard error.
  3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? - EVGA SLI 758, BIOS Rev 49.
  4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? - I noticed right after I flashed Rev 44, but I don't remember expierencing this anytime before rev 44. The front USB ports generally go unresponsive after some time, I'll unplug a working device then a little later I'll plug it back in, but Windows won't see it.
  5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? - No I've never had any problems in the BIOS or during boot, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate x64
  6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? No

I've noticed on my USB issues that I always see a little arc of electricity if I plug in to any of the front panel USB ports and then I get the behavior that everyone else is describing. The OS sounds that devices are being un-plugged an then no more USB devices work. The main USB ports that are built in to the back seem to work just fine.

The new BIOS rev hasn't solved this issue for me, so I would say no.

I cant reproduce it anymore either.

I think it was static electricity and the dry air of the middle of winter combined with the copious dust of my haf 932.

  1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? USB keyboard randomly not detected.
  2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? USB Keyboard randomly fails to get detected on any of the ports.
  3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? E758-A1 bios 49
  4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? Been happening ever since I got this board. Upon boot most of the time my (das ultimate) usb keyboard will not get detected.
  5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? Happens outside of os.
  6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? Have not rma'd.

I think it might also be worth adding that ever since updating from an older bios to bios 49 my ahci set sata drive has been getting port reset errors when initially powering on my motherboard and it takes another reboot for it to show up. When set in IDE mode there are no problems.

They should put the board in a low-humidity environment, shuffle their feet on carpet for about 10 minutes straight, then touch the casing of one of the USB ports located on the motherboard, assuming the motherboard is out on a test bench and not in a case.  I know it sounds funny, but I'm being serious.  Static electricity.  Static electricity.  Grounding.

   1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow?

USB are not responding in the bios or the OS (XP64)

   2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing?

All of them

   3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using?

EVGA 750i FTW

   4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot?

The problem occurred one night and they have been dead ever since, I don't use Hibernation or suspend on my systems.

   5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used?

Yes, it also occurs in the BIOS

   6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist?

Board has been flashed with the latest bios, it's never been RMA'd.  I'm using a temp PCI USB card to continue working with the machine, I can't be without it.

5.Occurs the moment the computer turns on
6. Yes it was RMA'd and it came back with this problem. No trouble with the USB prior to the RMA

1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow?

Several USB Devices do not work properly.  External hard drives have continuous errors and drop transmission. Saitek Cyborg controller only works on one USB port, it does not work correctly in any of the other USB ports, front panel header or otherwise.  Logitech  MX Revolution drops out CONTINUOUSLY but will come back on it's own.  I have also had another USB mouse drop entirely and had to restart to regain control over it.

   2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing?

Front Headers, On-board Ports as well.  only one rear USB port of the 12 seems to work decently

   3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using?

EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 w/ BIOS Version    Release Number IX58SZ2D

   4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot?

This Problem has been happening since day one.  As I try new USB components I discover new problems.

   5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used?

Cannot confirm as I do not use USB items in the BIOS.  Using Windows 7 x64.  these items work with an ASUS board also running Win7 x64

   6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist?

No and N/A

UPDATE:  USB port last thought to be in working order is not.  Not one of the 12 USB ports is 100% functional.

Re:For those who are experiencing USB issues 2010/03/30 14:04:49 (permalink)
Some interesting side notes after running ICH Vcore at 1.075 for the past three weeks.  Good side of things on my E758 is that the USB issues are all but gone!  Running bios SZ2Z from Dec and so far so good.  Now I have a new issue that seems to be effecting my SATA ports.

I am having major issues with my SATA DVD Burner and SATA Blu Ray Burner.  Sometimes...I get hung on bootup...then I have to shut down and let the machine sit for a minute or two before turning back on.  Another thing I have been able to do is pull the SATA cables from the drives and boot up without them connected.  Then...shut down...re-connect and boot up.   Also...there are times when I insert a DVD or Blu Ray into my burner...and it turns my hard drive light blue and shows constant activity when nothing is going on.  The HDD lights stay on and if I try to power down, I can't...I have to pull the power cord from my PSU.  Something is going on with the SATA ports on this machine.  Any ideas?  I look at the Voltages in E-Leet and everything looks normal.  There are times when the drives will work normally and then times when things get a bit crazy.  In Feb, I changed my PSU from a Thermaltake Toughpower 750 to a Corsair HX850.  Things are fine since that...even with the Corsair PSU...I only get a single pump out of the machine on bootup.  Everything seems normal for a time...then the hiccups begin.  What craziness

Re:For those who are experiencing USB issues 2010/04/02 03:27:34 (permalink)
Hi @ all,

just arrived here after having bought my A760 2 months ago, and since I only had trouble with USB devices.
I had to buy an PCI-e USB card to get partially rid off those issues which were for example:

- in my USB hub, 2 of 3 devices were not recognized properly and were marked as "unknown device" in the device manager.
- same behavior on the usb conncectors on board for my external water cooling device...
- and than a weird behavior, (you can tell me if you know this one) that is that my G5 Logitech mouse is jumping when
moving, means  the CPU is overcharged and cannot follow (I do have a very fast CPU, an overclocked I Core 7 920 @
4.4Ghz ) so you can imagine that I am really  pissed off this issues, as my PC is behaving like an old and slow
  Windows 95 machine...

European EVGA Support is quite easy go and just say, RMA... as if I had nothing to do than building out my whole system again and again (complicated watercooling system) and sending back all the time another board!

I WONDER WHEN EVGA IS REACTING ON ALL THOSE USB ISSUES AND OFFERING A WORKING SOLUTION!

Regards

My system:

- EVGA A760 3x SLI (European Version!)
- BIOS  E760S61J.bin  ->       How is the new released BIOS E76051.bin? Does it resolve anything of our issues???
- I Core 7 920 @ 4.4Ghz
- EVGA GTX280
- Genuine Windows Pro 7/64Bit
- (NO Tune Up soft, as known for making problems...)
- Kaspersky Internet security 2010 (which is so so)

1. USB slow - 1MB - 4.5MB
2. All USB ports (USB Flash Drive 8GB)
3. E758 - BIOS v 51
4. Has always been an issue for a year
5. Not sure how to test this outside of OS
6. Never been RMA

Windows 7 Home 64-Bit

Is there anther way to test the USB ports?
The system is running all default BIOS, no overclocking at this time.
all specs can be found in my Sig.

Re:For those who are experiencing USB issues 2010/04/06 01:29:30 (permalink)
Hi, just an update, I think I found the source of the "weird" behavior of a part of my USB issues.  My new USB expansion card "Ultron UHPe-500, 5x USB 2.0, PCIe x1 (41533)" seems not be compatible with the 760A Board. I pulled that card out, and the mouse pointer jumping and the flickering of the led indicator of the mouse stopped when I inserted it in one of the few USB ports of the Board which are still working...
So might be that is again an issue of the board, or this expansion card is not compatible or this card is defective... :(
So, it seems that I have to test (buy, grrrr) another USB expansion card...

  1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? System fails to POST when USB keyboard (Logitech G110) and mouse (Steel Series Xai) are connected. All the fans power on to 100%, Reset LED flashes amber, EVGA logo on X58 Chipset pulses Red (as expected), power LEDs on 9800 GX2 flash green. Swap out the USB G110 for old Microsoft PS2 keyboard and no mouse and the system boots fine.
  2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? Ports are fine. Once the system is booted to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, both the mouse and keyboard can be plugged in and function normally
  3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? EVGA X58 Classified E76051
  4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? Newly built system on 4/4/10, i7 930, x58 Classified, 3 x 2GB Corsair Dominator GT
  5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? Yes as stated above only occurs when the system is powered on prior to POST.
  6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? Motherboard has NOT been RMA'd, has only been installed and running since 4/4/10

  1. Please describe the issue, not responding? slow?
--> Rare problems with USB Flash Disk (Thumb Drive) tranfers. But always unable to transfer with memory cards. It always asks for the memory card to be formated first even after a successfull format has been done with another computer; a successfull format with the EVGA motherboard is also impossible. MicroSD's are... 6 Kingston MicroSD and 3 Transcend MicroSD old and new. Tried transfering using a generic MMC reader and even tried with 5 different mobile phones that are connected to USB with the MicroSD. Tried inserting everything to a different computer and there is no problem.

    2. Which devices and/or ports are failing?
            --> All

    3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using?
            --> EVGA X58 Classified 4-way SLI with E76251.bin  version 51

    4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on
    every system boot?

--> It happens right away and does not go away even after system boot.

    5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used?

--> This occur while using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 haven't tried and no plans to switch operating system.

    6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist?
--> I'm in the Philippines and there is no EVGA here so, No.

I Also tried pumping ICH VCore to 1.2 and disabled USB Selective Suspend Setting and still no effect.

Plugged in the USB are:
XBOX 360 Wired Controller
Linksys WUSB100 Wireless Network
Logitech Webcam C905
Generic Memory Card Reader
Razer Megalodon Headset
Razer Lycosa Mirror Keyboard
Razer Death Adder Mouse 3500DPI

Specs Are:

Re:For those who are experiencing USB issues 2010/04/12 18:32:49 (permalink)
  1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow? USB mouse and keyboard will freeze at random after booting into OS. Sometimes it happens as OS starts, other times it will freeze a day later. Seems to freeze most often when OS is idle and no applications are processing.
  2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? USB mouse and keyboard, all USB ports fail.
  3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? 132-BL-E758-TR X58 with BIOS 51. Freezes began with installed BIOS version SZ2Z and all subsequent BIOS updates do not solve the problem.
  4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot? Motherboard ran fine for 1 month, then starting January 2010 USB lockups began to occur. Initially they were once a week, then increased to once every couple of days. Starting with BIOS 51, the system locks as soon as OS starts.
  5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? Occurs only in OS. Using Win7 64-bit Professional.
  6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? Waiting for solution before going with RMA. Will need to RMA soon as USB lockups make system unusable.
I have tested many combinations of USB devices in all available ports. Tested several different types of USB keyboards and mice. All have the same result. Hot-plugging USB drives does not cause an immediate lock up. Unseated and reseated all memory, hardware cards, and CPU. Memory tests all run successfully. Reinstalled Win7 and lockups still occur.

Installed chipset driver 9.1.1.1025 and USB lockups did not occur for 1 week. Then lockups returned. Tried reinstalling BIOS and chipset driver in case there was a corruption, and no changes, USB ports still lock up within minutes of booting system.

System can still be accessed via RDC when USB ports are frozen. CPU LED readout shows idle temps in the mid 20s when USB ports operational, and jumps to mid 30s when USB ports freeze indicating the CPU is running increased cycles when USB ports are inop. Similarly, RDC response is slower when USB ports are inop also indicating increased CPU cycles.

Plugged in the USB are:

Dell RT7D50 Keyboard
Dell QCJ339 Mouse
Dell A225 Speakers

Specs Are:
Mother Board ( EVGA 132-BL-E758-TR X58 3SLI)
Chipset Driver (9.1.1.1025)
Bios (51)

CPU (i7 920 DO)

Memory (G.Skill F3-12800CL8TU-6GBPI 1600)
HD (2x Western Digital Black WD5001GAALS 500GB in RAID0 config)
DVD (Sony DDU1681S-0B)
PSU (Corsair 750TX 750W)
GPU (Zotac G210 512M)
Drivers (190.56)

mdswish Just got an email from Jacob.  They still haven't been able to reproduce the problem.  Even with my bad board.    Is there any more info we can give them to help?

They should put the board in a low-humidity environment, shuffle their feet on carpet for about 10 minutes straight, then touch the casing of one of the USB ports located on the motherboard, assuming the motherboard is out on a test bench and not in a case.  I know it sounds funny, but I'm being serious.  Static electricity.  Static electricity.  Grounding.

I have a Coolermaster 690 case and I posted several months ago at how badly this case was designed from a grounding perspective. The front panel has large metal rails on the sides of it, and they are not grounded at all. if you discharge static into them, it's random as to where the little bolt of electricity will go -- my guess: some port on the Mobo. I solved the problem on my case by using some solderwick tied to the metal chassis protruding to touch the metal components on the front and top panel covers and this problem went away. My guess: as we are in the spring, people will see less and less problems due to higher humidity than in the winter.

Bottom line: THROW OUT YOUR COOLERMASTER CASE - next time you buy a case, bring a DMM to the store and make sure everything is grounded or pass it by (this time I'm being serious).

  1. Please describe the issue, USB not responding? USB slow?   If I have a USB flash drive inserted into any of my USB ports, Post shows OS missing. When removed its fine. Also my keyboard is randomly not being detected.
  2. Which USB devices and/or ports are failing? Haven't tested them all. It seems intermittent.
  3. Which motherboard and BIOS revision are you using? X58 SLI LE   Bios 51
  4. Did this problem occur right away or over time? If so how long did it take before the problem showed? Does this issue occur on every system boot?  Just started happening after I changed CPU coolers.  Have been having all sorts of weird boot up problems.
  5. Does this issue occur outside of the Operating System? Such as in BIOS? If not, which Operating System is being used? So far, only noticed it in Bios
  6. Has the motherboard been RMA'd by EVGA? If so did the issue go away or persist? No

BIOS set to boot removable devices first (or whatever it's called - I'm not near my 758 to check) ???

Re:For those who are experiencing USB issues 2010/04/22 20:17:22 (permalink)
I upgraded my Sapphire 5970 OC CrossfireX+2GB GTX 285 dedicated PhysX to 3-way SLI Inno3D GTX 480. I used the word upgrade because I have no problems with the SLI's drivers. Now I know why Nvidia is a quality product compared to ATI. I believe that I'm getting every inch of Nvidia's power not unlike the hiccups, lags, pause, or sudden drastic FPS drops that ATI is giving me.

Anyway, When I was still using Crossfire+PhysX, the only Memory Low Gap setting it would only continue to boot Windows 7 is 3G. With these SLI it can boot windows even at 1.5G but just to make sure, I loaded the bios' default settings and left the Memory Low Gap on auto.

And this my friends, made all my USB problems just a part of the history. All of them came back to life. Hope that this post would help or just even give someone an idea. Thank y'all!

Yeah, well I am using 5850s, when I first loaded Windows I had mem low gap set to "auto" for a month. Then I set it to 2G. And I never had an USB prob (with one short exception). So try and blame it on ATI card all you want, but I know better. And my games run nice and gloriously smooth.
