Great promotion, but I hope I can use my EVGA bucks also in Europe soon ...

We are working on this - but it's a VERY complicated project.

Any way just to automate the point redeeming? Just have it poll the info once a month and dish out EVGA bucks for those with 100,000 and 250,000 PPM.

On a side note, my farm is about half rebuilt today. I need to get some mobo trays and a few new PSUs though to complete the rebuild though.

I couldn't agree more, brother! Reaching 60 bucks is so easy even now and think about the new generation cards and the GPU3 that's on the way! I don't know what people were expecting... EVGA was apparently bothered by all those people stopping at 1 million and those who just stopped by to grab the bucks and left off afterwards. I'd be bothered as well, wouldn't you? This way, EVGA wants to reward only those who care enough to stay year long. There may still be some who can take the hassle to switch back-and-forth each month to their teams where they really belong, and it's OK; now there is some hassle.

No that wouldn't bother me 1 bit. It's kind of like a contract, you fold 1m points you get $100 to use at OUR store. That was the deal they put in place, so there's no reason to get all bent out of shape because they didn't continue folding.

And until GPU3 comes out making any assumptions about it is totally wrong. None of us have any idea as to what kind of numbers ATi cards are going to put out with GPU3......if they ever get it out. The way it sits right now, the PPD from ATi's is pathetic.

slayer_27

Do not complain about this promotion or down it at all. EVGA does not have to do this and we are lucky that they do. Fairness blah blah blah...A single 9600GT can get the 60 bucks a year with this promotion add a dual core to that and you don't even have to fold all month long for the100k.

We might lose some but that is ok as they are obviously not dedicated to the cause and only the $. We will gain more small folders which is what we need, more people folding regardless of team. Don't knock on something that this wonderful company decides to do, it is not about the points or the bucks, it is about the WU and cures. The points and teams just add some friendly fun and competition.

If you don't like the promotion go fold for another team that offers nothing in return but satisfaction of folding, but then if that is why you leave the team satisfaction has nothing to do with it.

I understand some people can not afford to fold during high/low temperature seasons or it is just too hot in the summer. That is beside the point.

First point about the 9600GT, I have no idea where you got that figure from, but a dedicated 9600GT folding would be hard pressed to make 100k per month. I'd be willing to bet that a 9600 GT would not make that in a month, and adding a CPU client to the rig can actually reduce the total PPD output. Especially on older rigs like my 939's that I use for folding.

Secondly, it's not only the temps, but it also has to do with electricity costs. When I folded during the summer, my electricity bill went way up because my folding rigs were fighting with the A/C. So it is not financially viable for me to do so, but that would make it impossible for me to attain the full amount.
F_I_N
Thanks very much EVGA ! !

As a folding@home team EVGA supporter that didn't stop folding when I hit the 1 millions points required .For those that are already folding more than enough PPD that would easily cover the amount of points needed to max out their EVGA bucks $120 in short time and in my example 2 months from my average points per month .I'll always be a supporter of folding@home and contribute my folding farm to team EVGA

Well I'm glad you can crunch so many WU's in a month, but you must remember that your rig is the folding exception and not the norm.

And some of us had to stop due to hardware failure and financial reasons. I'm glad you have the resources to donate so much.

The people that donate there resources for helping others, dont pull shananigans ! , you don't have to screen as hard for takers, when your screening, a bunch of givers. It's like patting down a bus load of Nuns, to screen for shoplifters,  But I do understand the one bad apple concept; anyway thank you EVGA for doing what you don't have to do, and giving what you don't have to give.

I really like this format! The only downside is there is less incentive for people from other teams to jump ship for a quick million points, I guess they could just do 250K per month then switch back to where they are from which is better than a quick million. Either way thanks EVGA for this perk when the majority of us would fold anyway.

You guys really ought to get some more volunteers to help you check this stuff.. doing it once a month is going to be super time consuming. Also, are we still going to have to contact a mod when we hit the goals or is it all going to be "automatic" now that you guys are checking it every month?

Well this is my position, I was hoping that the previous years promotion would be the same as this years because my current ppd with both my gpu and ps3 folding 24/7 is around 6,000 ppd. Only enough to hit the one milestone each month. On the other hand with the previous promotion I was planning to fold nonstop for three months and hit 1,000,000 to get another gpu to put to work folding. But with this new promotion It's looking like 2011 before I get that new gpu :(

Edit: I guess my point is last year I had the opportunity to get the full amount of evga bucks and this I don't because it is above my ppd capabilities.

Are you working on a way to track promotional points accrued each month?
Will I need to contact you twice a month (for $5) or can it be done once a month (for $10)?

When starting from zero, like I did this year, keeping track of promotional milestones was easy.  Now that I have 3 mil+ points I'm not sure how to track the 100K and 250K milestones.  Thank you, to you and to EVGA for their continued support with F@H!

They'll probably just have the "buttons" they recently added for checking 1mil. You just click and it sends a message to someone who can verify that you've reached the goal.

Please stop deleting WU's.

Yeah exactly - just click a button and you get 5 EVGA bucks if everything matches.  It only takes me a few seconds each one, so it's not that big of a deal.

My FAH name has always been EVGA_BHawthorne. This worked to redeem last year. I noticed in the rules that it shows that your login name has to match your FAH for year 3 awards. Do I have to lose my EVGA_BHawthorne FAH count and enter in Brad_Hawthorne? Just making sure I don't accidently mess up when I try to redeem the first month by being name disqualified.

Agreed.

EVGA staff can not make a promotion that will fit to everyone as we all have a different set of circumstances that effect how much we can produce and how reliably. No-one wants to nor can they make a plan catered to each individuals needs.

For everyone who complains we are one step closer to losing it for the whole team. Hey, what is that word? TEAM, we are a team and we should start acting like it. Take a look at the link in my signature.

Although I totally agree with the concept to keep people from grabbing the money and running, the two big problems I see with this method is 1: as stated by another folder it will be a whole year before they will be able to use there full bucks earned to upgrade their folding system. 2: as far as the Chimp challenge for 2010, you might as well write that off, the way I see it everyone will be focused on doing their folding all year long just to get there bucks and are not going to be as likely to keep switching there clients back and forth every month between folding for bucks and folding for the chimp challenge. I personally was figuring to fold my required points to earn the bucks and then turn my whole farm loose on the chimp challenge but not now because it would be too time consuming to switch all my clients back and forth every month.

Can I stop by the 'My Folding' page at the end of each month and click both buttons (I'm assuming there will be 2) to collect them at the same time, or do I need to stop in twice, at each milestone?

The CC only lasts what, 5-6 days? Is that really going to kill your month points? IMO if 5 days hurts you that much you had no chance of getting the 250k for that month anyway. I plan on folding for the CC regardless of the 5 bucks I might lose just because it is fun and we need to kick the OCN.

My bad, I thought it was something that lasted for awhile, I asked before about getting instructions but did not get a response. I did not have the chance to participate last year so I do not know the paremeters.

Can I stop by the 'My Folding' page at the end of each month and click both buttons (I'm assuming there will be 2) to collect them at the same time, or do I need to stop in twice, at each milestone?

The buttons will appear when you pass a milestone.  You can click them all at once this time next year if you want - I don't care :)

That answers a question I had about how long we have to collect the rewards for each milestone.

Point system is cool enough, but for me folding during july, august, and  september in the south, forget it the cost of cooling my rigs way out ways the evga bucks. and thats ok I dont fold for the buck anyways.... leaving one bigadv running should cover that :)
great change. thanks for the program
last year I changed my bucks for the E757.. thank you
At the end of the comming folding year if that serverboard is out thats what my bucks will go into..Thanks ahead of time :)
thanks for the heads up shane..the folding community has a lot to thank EVGA for
just a side note
EVGA give folding bucks for those who fold for evga pretty cool
there are other team who spend lots of money to get peple to fold for them for instance maximum pc puts a cd disk in every copy
with the folding at home programs ready to install oh ya with their team number...lol
evga rewards the folders directly :)
great products..great suport.. and great way of saying thak you to their fellow folders
