Also, I think the reason we aren't considered to be sponsored is because we aren't actually getting anything in return that holds dollar value. I think it's included in the EVGA bucks guidelines or Terms of Service that EVGA bucks are worth 0 dollars, so by explicitly saying that EVGA bucks have no cash value (they can't be sold, they can't be exchanged for cash, etc), they can them as incentives. This also takes care of the secondary market for "EVGA bucks"

Now, if EVGA gave away cards to folders, then it could be considered sponsorship since GPUs hold a well-defined value and can be openly bought and sold on the secondary market.

And what about giving away "Step-Up days"? (to add to the standard 90). It could be a good incentive, and it has not a direct dollar value...

That's a pretty good idea.  It wouldn't even hurt EVGA financially I don't think, so they could probably do a fair amount of them...

I love the idea of extra Step-Up days () but it may not be as powerful a motivator as EVGA bucks... Maybe combine them?

I still love my logarithmic formula for EVGA bucks but I really don't want this team to be recognized as "sponsored"... I was just trying to come up with an idea so that people wouldn't stop folding after a certain folding points mark...

That would be kind of cool. Like how anyone who's on the folding team gets 10% off of B-Stock merchandise. Anyone on the Folding@home team gets 120 days instead of 90 days for Step-Up.
