Thanks Rob,
I lost my mother to cancer 10 years ago and am now watching my best friend fight the battle. I don't thank you for the 10 EVGA bucks I receiver every month, rather for the incentive to keep the masses folding. The small decision you make today could aide in finding  a cause or cure. Sleep well tonight my friend...

Thanks, EVGA, for continuing the folding program. With my Year 8 points (95 in all), I was able to buy the 650 PS power supply, which is currently on sale, needed to upgrade one of my PC's.

However, the cost of electricity/points benefit ratio has changed for me. With the price of mid-western energy as it is, I can't see any benefit to going for the 3 million point mark, when I could easily make the 1.5 million mark per month, and use the saved cash not spent on energy for any EVGA upgrades. With the hot days of summer coming up, I have to be wary of AC costs.

Here's a thought: I'll bet a lot of folders have old graphics cards sitting around that are begging to be recycled. With all the silver and other metals in these cards, why doesn't EVGA offer a recycling program to go along with the folding program? EVGA gets to use the recycled materials for new graphics cards, motherboards, etc., while providing another incentive for folders and PC enthusiasts to upgrade their machines, and promoting environmental concerns.

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me.

So, was just checking on my folding for February and find all my previous numbers have been reset to 0! It shows how much has been done since 1st March.
Only by looking on here did I see that the goal posts have changed, rather miffed as I have, after 8 years of folding, only been generating points the last 12 months.
My PC is not the most spec'd out and I have been happy that my Radeon card has managed to get to just over 1million a month, that is running 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
This has generated just under 8 million points for but only 22 EVGA bucks, [link=mailto:F@H,]F@H,[/link] was it worth it, probably no, it is helping Stanford but the change for the support from EVGA does not now reward being a team member.
Those that just run their systems for 3 days to earn the EVGA dollars are obviously only doing it for gain and oh look at me I am in the top 100 and want to be recognised with a special t-shirt. Well, whom is doing more for research, those that run the best they can, regardless of their power consumption and cost, or those that can fold the quickest?
I know there are members of this EVGA folding @ home forum who do their bit and would like to see something offered to the 1 million point per month.
Yes that would include me as if I run for thirty days I should just about manage 1 million.

I was one of only a few who stated that raising the limits was a bad idea. They raised their limits anyway basically insulting my efforts because I can't Fold 24/7 and my hardware because it wasn't efficent enough to reach the goals set by people who own dedicated Folding machines. I took it as an insult for being poor, unable to own the best hardware or Fold all day long and decided to Fold for another team where I am more appreciated. Team EVGA: I will Fold no more forever!

Zuhl, thank you for your contribution to this team and to this community.  I am sorry that you feel your contribution here is measured by entirely by points goals set by EVGA, that certainly isn't the case.  Every WU folded, no matter how big nor how small, is a step forward and it has always been here that we all contribute what we are able and no one is ever asked to fold beyond their individual means.  I am glad, however, that you have found another team that better suits your interests.  We'll miss you over here, but best of luck on your new team!

Hi destan,

I can assure you the previous numbers is just a glitch in our system and will be fixed today.  I do apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank You,
Rob

There are hundreds of people in the top ranks that haven't folded in years. It takes time, but is totally possible.

It will be interesting to see if there is any change in the in the team production following the change.
The $ buys you more hardware but less electricity than it used to, and so in effect EVGA are giving/losing less with each $ they award.
I have cut my production down because of the electricity cost and become just a "bucks folder", but I don't think I'll be doubling my production just to get the same $ as before.
I'm not knocking the scheme (reading the above it sounds like it) just my opinion on the changes.

Hey Zuhl come on over the the BOINC crunching side. Look for cures for AIDS, Cancer and Ebola.
You will appreciated over there. You CPU will be appreciated too. Every core/thread helps.

I did look into that BOINC and asked some questions about it a while back. I'm limited in how long I can run my PC due to electric rates especially when the weather requires heating or AC. Whenever I had extra money I used it to fold especially in the Spring and Fall. Lately I can only justify letting my secondary board fold while I am using the primary board for browsing the web, answering emails and participating in a few forums. I have seen posts about some BOINC project taking 13 hours or more to complete. I can't do that right now. Running one or two WU each day might net me 3 million points and it might not. Why bother is how I look at it any more. They're only EVGA bucks that can only be spent at the EVGA store buying EVGA equipment. I see a lot less cha-ching happening in the EVGA store after the point threshold was increased. I took it as an insult to my equipment and efforts due to income limitations and whether they realize it or not EVGA management has just insulted more than half of their team for the same reasons. I am on limited disability income and got no cost of living increase while my rent, phone and internet services went up in leaps and bounds. I also have more doctor bills, more specialists to see and more prescriptions to pay for. I like folding for my new team. It is a small team and everything I produce is noticed and appreciated.

In Europe electricity is higher and I have a tight budget so I can only fold during workdays in the evenings and on the weekends during the day hours. I don't know if I'll be able to make both of the new folding target incentives but maybe I can reach the 1st one.

I think everyone is forgetting that we Fold to find a Cure and this is the Only Reason We Fold.
EVGA is only providing support for Folders that Fold under the team folding@evga (111065)
Maybe it is time for EVGA to drop their support altogether and not have the added Team Support that they provide today.
I am ashamed of our team members that are complaining in this thread that we do have such support from a company like EVGA.

A company that gives them incentives to fold.

A company that gives away hardware on a weekly basis for absolutely no teason.

A company that hosts events that gives away extra hardware quarterly.

A company that PROVIDED FOLDERS WITH PRIZES DURING A FOLDING EVENT.

A company that has shown support for 9 years without hesitationn.

The ONLY company and team that gives people a way to upgrade without spending real cash.

A company that doesn't require users to sign a waiver when they win something g saying they won't sell it.

Quite frankly, users that vowed they would "never fold for evga again" should be barred from winning any prizes during an EVGA folding event... but, we aren't like that. Those threats will fall on drags ears and we will well welcome then opened handed when they come back to the team in an attempt to get something free.

To those making these threats, your point still count for the good of a cure. I quite frankly don't care what team you fold for. Work units are work units, and your threats are empty since your points still add up for everyone.

I think I'll quit folding now, better that than to express an opinion and cause "team" members to feel shame.

I decided to load it up on the new machine. I think I will continue to put the $10 in my jar every month and let the machine fold only while it is turned on. and shut it off at night. After all like it has been said it benefits everyone only everyone does not know it!

But its nice to be back folding again.

I will start folding part time again. Electricity in Hawaii is incredibly expensive so I may not hit the goals if my bill gets too high. I don't know how accurate the window is but it is estimating 600k ppd.
