I've heard of people flashing custom bioses or overclocked bioses to a card before, and was wondering how safe this generally is. the FTW/FTW DT has dual bioses so It seems like as long as it doesn't damage the hardware, I have a backup bios to fall back too.
the reason I'm asking is because I have one 1080 FTW DT, and one 1080 FTW. I didn't really want to mix cards like that, but given how hard the 1080s are to find in stock, I went with what I could get, and what would work (even if it forces the OCed one to downclock by default to match the slower card.
I can always OC the card by 114mhz to reach the same speed as if they were both FTW cards, and I've done that so far, and it seems quite stable at these clocks.
I also know I'd need to be able to flash it back in case I needed to RMA it, but are there any other concerns that I should think on?
( Ideally I'd like the DT version to magically turn into a FTW, then have both of them become hybrids, but I can assume that hybrids aren't going to be a step up option for one)
