So this came as a mild surprise, but a small piece of metal near the hole where my 980 Ti screws into the PC case has flaked away and there's exposed copper underneath of it. I wasn't even aware there was two layers of metal there. This is probably a silly question, but is that a concern? I can't imagine it would be, but better safe than sorry.

Has anybody else had this happen? I've never seen it with any other video card. The screws weren't even tight when it flaked off, I was starting them by hand before grabbing a screwdriver.

    Hi,

If you don't mind, can you post a picture of the exposed copper?

I would use a plastic washer between the card and case from the hardware store if you are concerned.

You can see it there by the bottom screw hole. A little bit more has flaked off now. Card seems to be fine, my case hasn't suddenly become electrified. I am a little worried that it might keep dropping little metal shavings into my case though.

    Hello,

on the mounting holes of the PCI bracket? That happens all the time when tightening down the card. You can throw a washer on there if you want however this type of cosmetic issue will not alter your warranty or have any impact on the card's performance.
