personally i dont get the whole mechanical key thing, im old enough to remember the old clack mech keys of yor, people hatted them and the silent keys came out. i still have a IBM cherry keyboard with a AT connector from years gone by, i even have a AT to PS2 adapter for it lol. ill stick with my g15, love this thing.

Mechanical keyboards have better responsiveness to them over rubber dome keyboards. The next time your near a BestBuy, go in and try out mechanical keyboards on display. I like my Corsair K70 RGB Lux, it has all kinds of RGB profiles you can download for it, if you don't like making your own lighting effects.

i have tried them, dont really care for them. the backlit is cool but dont need some seizure inducing light show on my keyboard

Well CES 2017 has come and gone now, any news on this Keyboard?
https://mobile.twitter.com/EVGA_JacobF/status/605563081154895872

It was shown at CES 2017 but i didn't see any reviewer bother to talk about it.

Because it's a keyboard in an ocean of keyboards. No one truly cares anymore I think. I'm sure they looked at it and went, "Meh, another keyboard" and moved on. Does it have interesting features, yes, but it's still just a keyboard.

Case - Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X

It does have some interesting features to a point, but the generic LCD screams obsolete technology. On Screen Displays, second monitor, smart phones and software like Arx Control have made generic LCD screen on keyboards obsolete.

What they could have done, was make it a good 5 inch screen, and made a good open source software. USB or Thunderbolt connection. Something that could be maybe made into OSD type software, or for your TS3/Discord/Teamspeak, Precision/AB, possibilities could be endless.
You're right though, that tiny LCD screen is ancient, and should never have been implemented.

Good to see people still talkin about it, I too would prefer no screen in exchange for lower price but at this point I wish they would just release it the way it is. Im sure its perfect after 3 years.
Got another k70 taking a dump and I know as soon as I invest in something else (((not corsair) the Z10 will hit the market the next day.
Can we get an update please?

There was a quick mention by EVGA in the chat during the podcast last night that the release announcement was coming soon.

"Nightbot : The EVGA Keyboards have been announced. Stay tuned for more information about the Z5 and Z10"

Is your K70 still under warranty? I have two K70 keyboard, one with blue LED's, the other one is K70 Lux RGB, amazing what what people can do with CUE software.

If you like blacklit mechanical keyboards, why settle for red LED's only.

Props to Logitech - I had a Logitech G15 for years and that was a great keyboard - it looks similar to the EVGA board, and I did find the display useful. I still use a Logitech MX518 mouse.

Last couple of years I've been using a 2014 Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth (wow that's a mouthful) which I'm very happy with.

I'm still using this Logitech G15. Still works great. Also, no keys have faded yet either. As a matter of fact, no fading at all after all these years. After I get the Evga KB, I'll use this G15 as my back up KB.

Cant stand My Black Widow that I've had for years now
But I spent soooooo much money on it I can't bring myself to put it in the closet

Some day I will get the Corsair K70 Red Cherry Switches

The EVGA Screen or any other screen for that matter is useless

It's a Keyboard and nothing more
If anything
they should dumb it down for game play like this onw

My first Corsair K70 Blue LED keyboard died within 3days, the second one lasted a month before LED started to burn out on it, the 3rd continues to work fine (on another system), i upgraded to K70 Lux RGB.

I like my gskill ripjaw keyboard, and would only change one thing. The M1 key ofln the far left sits right where i am use yo escape sitting, so i hit it rather than escape. I need to just bind escape to it.

Its dead till next years ces..
"info coming soon" means.. wait till next ces.

This keyboard.. nice as it is, is really taking too long to develop.
It looks like a keyboard from 10 years back, and any keyboard with a screen on it, just doesnt seem to be with the times.

The only keyboard i would buy if it had a screen, would be something like a small smart phone type screen.
If it can be removable, and customize-able.
Some of you might not think this is a good idea, but a dedicated cross-hairs key would be cool.
enough games that limit cross-hairs. Developers saying its a cheat.. its a visual aid, its not like "God Mode" or something.
I see some newer monitors come out (LG) with this feature.  But who wants to spend that kind of money for cross-hairs?
Unless you really need a monitor.

Re: EVGA Z10 Keyboard with Built in EVBot!! Tweet from Jacob. 2017/05/07 23:22:55 (permalink)
Really does remind me of my Logitech G15 but which I like but it's also an older keyboard. I if it went out I would buy a gaming keyboard like this but not sure the screen is needed. I don't really use it on the G15.

Well another Corsair K70 died on me yesterday! This time it was mx browns. I am not hard on my KB's, nothing had been spilled on them and it never moved from my desk. Weird thing is even though it was completely dead it was making my pc do some strange things bios was unresponsive, sound went static and echo among other things. Finally I realized I had it still plugged in and removed usb and issues disappeared.
Anyway gotta buy another mech keyboard yet again while waiting for the Z10. I'm sure it will come out the same week I replace this crappy Corsair, if it even is still in development?

Any recommendations on a reliable mech KB anyone?

Some bad luck to wear out two Corsair keyboards like that. My K70 Silver with Blue LED's and K70 Lux RGB keyboard are working just fine. I think evga Z10 keyboard will use the same CherryMX switches your Corsair K70 uses,  if it ever see's the light of day.

Ducky, Das, Deck, Filco...
Big fan of Ducky, also like Das. Never did care for my K70.

Ducky Shine 6
Brown Cherry Switches
Double Shot PBT Caps

Best keyboard for the money. If you don't care about RGB or backlighting in general have a look at the Ducky One line. Problem is, they are generally always out of stock.

Thats just the thing I seriously doubt I wore them out, Im not that great of a typist and they were taken care of. I would say that it wasnt the keys that went bad but a month or so ago It did start repeating keys
and then it just died completely no backlight nothing just dead. Tried factory reset to no avail just junk!. 1st one did the same exact thing.

And get this I just got a response back from corsair on my rma ticket and it reads " Thank you for attaching a copy of the invoice. We’re sorry to inform you the unit itself has a <2-year> warranty that would have expired. We apologize but we also do not have any kind of repair service available." WTH! A $140 keyboard and 2 died for no reason. I would think that they would warranty the new one since it was brand new or at least do something. I think for them to say oh sorry you are screwed is not cool.
I seriously doubt EVGA would do that.

Ive heard good things about those brands you mentioned. I think Im gonna need something with backlit keys though, I had to bust out my old Dell SK-8135 and it sucks with no backlit keys in a darkish room.
