OK so I had replaced every part in my case other then the CD/DVD drives and my system sill restarts with no warning. How can I get this to stop it only happens like once a week or two that I can tell but still it shouldn't do it at all.

Take the MB out of the Case and Test, may just be a Ground somewhere in the Case.

    Have you tried this ?

    Microsoft Community answer

Disable Fast Startup. I fixed this issue with these steps:

    1.  go Control Panel
    2. Power Options
    3. Choose what the power buttons do
    4. Change settings that are currently unavailable
    5. uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"
    6. save changes.
Also, go to advanced power settings -> Sleep -> Allow wake timers and disable it.

Yeah it was doing it with my old parts in it but more often so that's why I replaced all but the cd/dvd drives but still does it but just not as often. hmm if the board was grounded wouldn't it do it more often. does anyone know how to open and read the mini dump it created and is willing to look threw it to see what it says from the restart..

I use BlueScreenViewer for dmp files.
" hmm if the board was grounded" your MB is grounded to the case by the offsets and needs to be.
The grounding would be somewhere else lile an extra offset the should not be on the case or a extra long solder on the MB touching the case.
It even could be a pinched wire between the MB and Case.
Also you have code [/a in your signature that is changing the view.

Good suggestion. BlueScreenViewer is a great tool for quick reads of the dump files, however, I like using windbg myself as it provides more info, and can be used to track down the root cause. One time bluescreenviewer didn't provide me with which driver was causing the issue, so I used windbg to check the .dmp file, and it showed which driver was the cause.

I looked at your memory dumps that you sent me via PM. The dumps show 0x116 & 0x3b stop codes. Recommendations at this time would be to your ram manually to 2133 MHz with the correct timings & voltage as your 6700k is only rated to run at a max of 2133 MHz on the integrated memory controller.

You can do that on the memory tab inside the bios. To access the bios all you need to do is to start tapping the del key after rebooting the computer.

I set it to auto it reads 2133 would the timings be the same for the 3200 as for the 2133? I usually use the xmp in the bios I tried to go to the gskill website but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. In auto would it pick the right timings already. this is my memory part number F4-3200C16D-16GTZB

Timings from the Mem Sticks should work at the lower speed..  I assume they are 16-18-18-38-2N.   If they work, you could look at a slower version of G.Skill and see what their timing is set for.  Google would give you the timings, if you have the part numbers of the slower mem.

Timings for your ram is 16-18-18-38 @ 1.35v. In auto mode the timings/voltage are most likely set incorrectly.

Google is a handy tool to use for searches

    HowtoGeek Power Plan
    excerpt:
In the Power Options window, click “Change plan settings” next to a plan–like the Balanced plan, for example–and then select “Change advanced power settings.” The drop-down box at the top of this window lets you switch between power plans, so you can see exactly which settings are different between plans.

Yes, you could try that. If you continue to have issues then I would recommend setting the ram up manually.

I was told by someone that pulling out the MB battery might fix it what does that do to pull it out for 10-15 seconds. But I did what everyone said to do so far will get back if it happens again.
