The manual for the FTW claims that "Slots 1 and 3 are the primary priority slots; slots 2 and 4 are the secondary slots. It is required to populate slot 1 first."  However, the diagram shows the opposite.  I've checked the manual for the Classified K and it indicated that Slots 2 and 4 are primary, and the diagram then makes sense.  Which is correct for the FTW?  Is the text wrong or is the diagram wrong?

It's so nice that you can go in and edit your text to make it look like you knew what I meant the whole time, instead of just repeating things at me.

How do you know which part of the manual is the misprint?

Thank you for bringing this information to our attention. From the information we have and can find the two boards should agree. The Primary slot should be 2 and 4 and a single stick should go in slot 2. We will reach out to Product Team to review our information and correct the manual.

I have confirmed that slot 1 and 3 are primary.  The physical manual that came with the motherboard indicated slot 2 and 4, and the digital manual still says 1 and 3 with the diagram indicating 2 and 4, but I got an error and the RAM did not power up in slots 2 and 4 and are working perfectly in slots 1 and 3.  Both manuals need to be updated.

Something is wrong with your board then. Slots 2 and 4 are populated on my Z170 Classified K. No issues. Please refer to this image from a review of the Z170 FTW, you can clearly see slots 2 and 4 are populated.

I really don't know what to say about that... Clearly in that picture it's a Z170 FTW with slots 2 and 4 in use, but on mine it wouldn't boot until I moved them to 1 and 3.  My picture is a bit grainy, but here it is.

That is really odd...What happens if you have only one stick of RAM in slot 2?

should be slot 2 and 4, been this way for some time on evga boards, even my x58 needs 2,4 and 6 populated first.

I didn't get around to troubleshooting until now, because despite the motherboard beeping at me when I boot it, everything works fine and all the RAM is showing up in settings. I purchased 2 more sticks of RAM to upgrade, and figured that once all 4 slots were populated I'd stop getting beeps, but it hasn't worked. Now I've played around with it to see if any of the sticks have an error and I can't find one. With 1 stick in slot 2 I get error code 53 and the computer won't boot. In slot 1 it works fine, but I get 4 motherboard beeps. I'm trying to determine if it's somehow a RAM error or a timing error, but everything works perfectly. With all slots populated all RAM shows up and boots fine, but I get 4 beeps. Should I return the motherboard?

    Here's a picture of slot 2.

My old EVGA motherboard beeped to let me know it was booting and going through the boot codes. You may be able to disable the speaker in the bios.

I think it was “dark” mode on the board that’s i had.

If the board is working fine, it may just be the bios speaker being loud, but I haven’t had an EVGA motherboard in a few years, so I am not sure if they removed or disabled the speakers.

It's normal for EVGA boards to do high pitched beeps. It really shouldn't be enabled by default because it prompts so many (understandably) concerned users coming to ask about it. The EVGA boards beep when they initialize your USB devices. You probably have a bad slot 2 if it doesn't work there.

Check this and other EVGA manuals in the BIOS section with LED code readouts the BIOS now uses beeps for non error audio indications.  ie the more USB devices detected the more beeps.

might be a security thing  IE your have a USB flash drive connected you did not know is there.
