Would I need to update the bios on the z170 mb before I install the kaby lake cpu or could I update it in dos with a flash drive of some sort or should I just go ahead and get the skylake to save the Tribble

You will need to have a kaby lake bios to properly use the kaby lake CPU on a z170 motherboard.

If you purchase the motherboard directly from the evga online store it will most likely come with the 2.00 bios already installed. The 2.00 bios supports kaby lake cpu's.

I already own the board and i´m waiting for news about a stable BIOS so i won´t get into trouble runing a Kaby Lake CPU.
The BIOS we can download is still in beta state.

i wonder this also, about to buy classified 170K and looking at the 6700k and 7700k, both are close in price but i want to just drop in and go. dont see any real reason to drop a extra $100 for features i wont use so im going with the 170. will it work straight out the box? really want the 4k stuff that kaby lake offers.

I'd love to get kaby lake but I've decided to go with the i5 6500 and to save money. Maybe when I get money I'll get kaby lake
