OK guys i have been fighting this for days and i am lost

System specs

X99 FTW K
intel 6800k
corsiar 32gb ddr4 3200
asus 1060
intel 600p m.2 512gb (also using a sata2 HDD)

my system is set to all defaults besides XPS profile 1 for the memory.

I get windows 10 to load on the m.2 first time it try to fire up as its configuring windows it ctashed. WHEA uncorrected failure 0x000124. tired installing a few more times same thing.

pulled 2 sticks of ram. gets past the configure screen during first boot but then fails. swapped out the two i pulled for the other two same thing

pulled the m.2 and put in my old sata2 HDD. windows would install, do the configure and then first boot up it would crash same code. every boot it does same thing.

installed windows 7 on my sata2 hdd. windows completes instal and boots. but i try and load a single drive it blue screens witht eh same WHEA failure 0x0000124 code.

So the system is super unstable and i cant figure out why since its all at defaults and proper memory profile.

A '124' error is processor commonly processor related. Usually the vcore being too low. It is also possible it is a memory issue. Have you tried disabling XMS and run the memory at a lower speed? Also, setting your memory voltage and timings manually might help too.

i have ran the memory with the bios defaults. i have also updated the bios.
i swapped in my old graphics card and same thing.

i have all voltages set to the motherboard defaults. dont even know where i would begin for setting the v core. this new core architecture is all new to me.

Re: System crashin. cant even get windows to install 2016/12/09 16:39:53 (permalink)
You should never install your OS with the Motherboard Overclocked CPU or Memory.
Setup you Bios:
Select the Optimized Settings in the Bios....Save and Re-Start and Re-Enter into the Bios.
Save a Bios Profile and Call it Clean.
Now Set your Bios Settings like the Boot Settings CSM Settings and So On....No Overclocking on the CPU and your Memory Set to Auto....Save and Re-Start and  Re-Enter into the Bios and save a Bios Profile as Default.
Now Install your OS.
Once you have your OS install and Upgraded and Updated Save an Image Backup and restart you computer and enter into the Bios and Now Set your Memory to XMP Profile 1 and Save Re-Start and Re-Enter into the Bios and save this as Bios XMP1
Re-Start and allow the OS to boot and not test your Memory for any issues.
Once this is completed then it is time to Overclock your CPU.

Post if setting your Bios to XMP 1 and it changed your BCLK or if it stayed at 100

i never over clock.
i have left everything default besides setting the XPM to profile1 which should be the memory optimal setting. dont know why that would be considered over clocking. Changing to XPM kept it at 100

I ask because some XMP Profiles on Some Memory set the BCLK to 125 and Overclocks the CPU as well.
XMP Profiles are the Overclock Settings for your Memory, the Base Setting for your Memory is when the Bios Settings are Set to Auto.

DDR4 3200 the 3200 is the Overclock for this Memory, Base Clock is 2133 or 2400 based on your Memory.
What is the Make and Model Number of your Memory?

As HeavyHemi above said your vCore is to low if error 124 or 121

ok is i did what your said. restored everything all i did was change boot order (no xpm profile or anything). installed win 7 pro 64. installed like normal. first thing i do us try and install the wifi card drivers and the system crashes same as before.

i tired to manually set my cpu voltage as well. started at 1.2 and worked my way up. each time the system would not even get through windows start up without crashing. i finally got to 1.5 and it started and so i tried the driver for the wifi card and same thing crash. i set the cpu voltage to 1.6 and it wouldnt even post so hit the clear cmos button and back to defaults again.

memory is corsair Vengeance LED 4x8 32gb ddr4 3200 1.35 16-18-18-35
cmu32gx4m4c3200c12b

i specifically came on this board and asked about this memory before purchasing it and was told it is fine.

Remove the WiFi card and try without it. Does your system still crash with no WiFi card?

Win 7 can be very problematic when installing UEFI M.2 BIOS.  You need to do specific things to make it work where as a Win 10 installation shouldn't need extra steps.

I also will add, you shouldn't push the CPU's voltage settings passed 1.4v.  1.4v is for benching but for 24/7 use, no more than 1.35v and that is pretty high.  Most OC's are around 1.2v-1.3v.  The lower it is, the better.  We code name those CPU's in low 1.2v range as a "Golden Chip".

I would test the CPU at its stock voltage and hope you didn't fry it.

BSOD 124 usually does point to a cpu problem. Since increasing the vcore didn't help resolve the problem try tweaking the IMC (Integrated memory controller) voltage. VSA Voltage Offset = IMC voltage.

If tweaking the IMC voltage doesn't help fix the problem I would try using a different set of ram that is known to be compatible with the board. I would also try testing each ram slot individually. Don't go over 1.3v on the IMC voltage. Surprised you didn't break your cpu giving it 1.5/1.6v.

Is your OS with or without Sp1?
If so did you Update the OS Before you installed the Wireless Card?

I have Win 7 SP1 and Windows 10 1607
both OS were having the same crashing issues.

i find i very odd the wireless card was the problem
doing all updates to win 10 now. (installed on my m.2 drive)

Are you Updating the OS through Windows Updates and are all the Updates installed?
It can be hard to help if you change your OS
Each OS will have Different Bios Settings as well.

Re: System crashin. cant even get windows to install 2016/12/09 18:55:09 (permalink)
i was using both to find if it was a driver issue. but both systems were having the same issue, so that narrowed it down to hardware. i wanted windows 10 and that is what i am running now that i can get it to install.

i am running it now and letting it do all the updates before i got installing any programs. but humming along fine.
i am still on all BIOS defaults for everything but the m.2 boot setting of course.

Make sure you download the latest drivers from the asus website. Don't use the drivers that came on the cd with the wifi card.
