Let me start with yes, this is my first time with a high end graphics card but not with installing aftermarket upgrades. With the new tower; Intel(R) Core(TM)i5-6400T CPU @2.20GHz 8.00 GB Playing world of tanks, I could play at medium setting with a little sluggishness, and 28 - 30 fps. After installing GT740, I saw little improvement and 36 fps average. With 8G of ram and 4G on the 740, I "should" be able to plow through the graphics on this game. I'm not. I went to the forums and didn't find anything on this card. Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated. Here's what I've done so far. Installed the card. Updated drivers from links in these forums. Installed gforce experience and optimized WoT. Ok, let me have it. lol Respectfully, noob looking for help

Hello, I am sorry to hear of the performance issues you've been experiencing. From your testing I cannot be certain that this issue is related to your GT 740. The best diagnostic tool we have will be for you to run 3d mark firestrike (free program) http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2497/futuremark-3dmark-2013-v1-5-915/ Once you have ran firestrike benchmark please provide us with the link / URL to your score so that we may analyze the results and offer assistance.

Which cable are you using between the GPU and the monitor?

Your 740 while a newer gen card... is underpowered for WOT with high settings. If WOT is your game and you want high settings and high frame rates, consider returning it and upgrading to a much better card. Your GTX 740 as shown above can only reach 40% of the needed GPU power to run at those higher framerates and settings. Uninstall the GeForce Experience (GFE), its most likely using quality based settings that are -way way- too high... The GFE is known to use very high settings for games that cause -much lower framerates- as the settings used are for 30fps.... GFE optimized settings are---> NOT designed for high framerates, they are for high quality at 30fps Uninstall the GFE and then reboot once, then start up WOT and setup your in-game settings manually for the best frame rate results with that card *Turning OFF HBAO, dropping AA levels to x2 and dropping effects levels by one notch should see you double your FPS!

Thanks mani, I did use the steps you recommended and I am now running the requested program by invidia to analyse performance for their info. Will talk with them once this is done to seek a replacement. Thanks for your assistance. :)

I ran 3Dmark and here is the address. The results indicate it's better than 1% of the cards out there. Amazing!! [sarcasm]. Who do I need to contact about returning this thing in exchange for something a wee better than 1%?

Were you running integrated graphics prior to the 740? Also, which cable are you using, and which resolution are you running it at?

Yes, the system is an HP Pavilion desktop with integrated graphics. Although I can't fathom what difference an output cable could possibly make on measured performance, it's a VGA adapter and the resolution is 1920 X 1080. I ran through some of the troubleshooting threads and found one on a clean boot environment and reinstalling drivers to avoid conflicts. So I did that before contacting here.

Would you be able to use a dvi adapter since that card doesnt have a direct vga port?
I am going to ask a silly question, because it does happen.. please dont take offence. Once you installed the gpu, dod you move the vga cable from the motherboard integrated graphics over to the gpu? You would need an adapter to do so, and you didnt mention an adapter, so it needs to be asked.

LOL no offense taken. Yes, the card came with a dvi adapter to vga. It is installed and my monitor is hooked up to it, not to the integrated card. Have you guys analysed my system as per the page I provided? Who can I talk to about getting a replacement for this card?

model # of the tower is 510-p020 the monitor is a Samsung S24D300 I've already run the 3DMark benchtest and MDecker has the page url for the test with system specs. But I'll post them here again. Intel(R) Core(TM)i5-6400T CPU @2.20GHz 8.00 GBWindows 10I'm not sure why you guys are focusing on a monitor. It can in no way affect measured performance. Will One of you please let me know who to talk to/phone # or whatever so I can return this thing?

I cant analyze anything, as I am just a moderator for the forums, and thank you for not taking offense. Some people get upset when asked, and i had to ask because it has happened a couple of times in the past, albeit not often thankfully. With your card, can you please pull up GPU-z (download it from techpowerup if you dont have it yet) and set it to run the sensor tab. Make sure your card is boosting properly, and the clock speeds are not sitting idle. It would be good to watch gpu power as well and make sure it is being utilized and the power usage is increasing. Lastly, on the main page, there is a question mark right next to where it will say pcie 16x1.1, or pcie 16x2.0, or 16x3.0 or maybe even 8x1.1, 2.0, 3.0. Could you just play for about 5 or 10 minutes and see what they say and just post those reading here? Hopefully we are able to get you up and running soon and sorry this is taking so long.

Check what you can do with the EVGA Step-Up Program. Go through My Products page and see what you can step-up to. Remember that your HP shows you have a 180 W uATX aPFC internal power supply so you may need to replace it to support higher end cards.
