Hallo Gadgety1 ! No i have no buildlog. The best is to build all the stuff and then do a build log. I just put it up here for fun. a work a lot right now and have not build anything in 2 week. It will probably take some time to finisch this big system a agree  Have tested a smaller version of the system and it worked like a charm. Ordered two old x5680 to put in the pc with the 3ds viewport. 25x on all cores probably give me around 4300-4500mhz with the tec cooling  And if the SR-2 dont like 7GPU i use 5x780 or 6x780 and put the rest in the other SR-2 and use it in the render network.

Some update on my slim supermicro build and the big one. Using 3x supermicro mobos to fit it all in the same case. 72ht cores and 3x EVGA 500watt Power supply with y adapters for cpupower. Going to buy a 200mm radiator to fit the case .

My 2x5680 arrived yesterday from ebay. This weekend a will be finish with the big SR-2 and slim case 3x supermicro.

Gordon 79: To use PCIe ribbon cable extenders you have to use a motherboard that will let you reduce the PCIe protocol verision down to v1.0 or v1.1. PCIe 2.0 and later will not work. Gordon 79, 7xGTX780, PCIe 2.0 and over 4000mhz :-)

Good progress! Well done! Finally I'll assembly my two SR-2 workstation for Khristmas, thanks for the screenshots, so i noticed that the pcie frequency is set to 88. I assume that more vga are installed, less must be the frequency, right? Is there a role or just try till stability system? I OC the system and always leave it at 100, with 2X980ti. But with 1 more (3X), can I leave it to 100 or is it better to pump down frequency? Any risks leave i to 100? I'm scared when I read about the pcie protocol and extender cables, I just bought them, 200mm. I'll try tomorrow if I can.  ...And I assume you're rendering with iray, if I am not mistaken more vga are computing less advantages of time you have, i mean it isn't linear in advantages... Anyway you'll have a hot winter with that tons of hot fans flow!!! If you want I'll send you a test scene, just for fun and compare your monster with my future puppy.

No risks at 100mhz pcie.
88 mhz pcie bus is the only way to make it work 100%
( on my sr-2 )
200mm is very long, i have 150-160mm but if they are good quality it possible work
Pci protocol ?
I run pcie 2.0.
It is gordon79 telling me it wont work.
But it works 100% ok
My newest working settings is 4400mhz.

Just don't understand what you mean for '88 mhz pcie bus is the only way to make it work 100% '... I mean, if you leave it to 100 with 7 X gtx, sr-2 doesn't start? Or vgas computiing less they can? Just want to know for any future upgrade, thanks, cause i never change that value. After the extender news I surfed the web and find an interesting exteders test with different types and lenghts... It seems lenghts doesn't impact in performances, and I was really surprised about that! Anyway I'll see tomorrw morning with a stress test. http://www.overclock.net/...der-cables-benchmarked

My SR-2 only works with 88mhz bus when all 7xpcie slots is used with GPUs and extenders. 100mhz pcie works fine with 1-5xGPU in my sr-2. There is no delay for playing games, rendering etc with extenders. only weak signal and other radio/ pc signals interferens
