Hi guys.....how's everything?
Im reading a few posts here about 1080 step up!!!i noticed this guy apply for the step up 3 days before me and he already received his 1080 SC. He did May/27,i did May/30...
i guess.....
And im still stuck on step 1.
I really appreciate the opportunity EVGA gives us to step up to a new card...
I guess im just overreacting about the time waiting for this.
Gonna go to my room and cry..... 😉😂

The backlog of 1080's, especially from EVGA is insane!  Seems half the world wants EVGA because of the support reputation.  Best I can tell, they are shipping SC's to fulfill 5/28.  I stepped up on 5/29 and decided three weeks ago to go with the ACX 3.0 reference model.  Was put right in the front of the queue.  Requested to reference on 9/1.  Sent my old card back on 9/2.  EVGA received it on 9/6 (Tues) because of holiday on Mon.  I received my new 1080 ACX 3.0 on Friday (9/9), since I had paid for overnight delivery.  It can be that quick for you as well.  It is just my thought.  EVGA has never really put the 1080 ACX 3.0 up for sale on the website.  I think they are holding back the entire model for fulfillment of Step Ups.  My original step up was to the 6181 model.  They upgraded me to the 6183.  However, the line for SC is moving slowly (but it is moving).  For me, the backtrack to 6181 worked out better than I could have imagined.  I am not an insane overclocker by any means, but I can tell you that my reference model can hold an overclock of +250 core (1857)...turbos to 2140 and memory at +250.  I don't run it like that all the time, because the base clock of my card boosts to 1911 without overclocking.  I just set the temp limit to 90C and the card holds the turbo speed 50% of the time while it drops to 1883 the other half of the time.  I think the reference models have a huge amount of play in them.

Other thought...when I backtracked to the 6181 on 9/1...they just started fulfilling the 5/27 SC orders that were stepped up on the day of release.  For about an hour after release, the SC was one of the choices for step up (normally never are...but they were there)....and so on.  If they are on 5/28 and it is Sept 26th...I imagine that 5/30 may be three weeks away...again..."My estimate".  Don't hold EVGA either way to my estimates...I am just judging on how fast things have been going.

Do I regret backtracking to the 6181?  NO!

    Think on it...

So you don't think I am fabricating.  Here is my card set to +225 core and +200 memory

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14747710

Just ran it again with the new 372.90 drivers.  Lost a bit of the overclock.  Could only do +240 core.  Set memory to +200

    http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/15089206

Again...the PCB on the ACX 3.0 and SC are the same.  Both only use (1) eight pin power connector.

You were correct.   My original step up date was 5/29.  Changed it.  Thanks for noticing.

Just curious... is the step up queue always this long for a new product release? Or was this just a set of multiple extenuating circumstances?

Just a heads up, EVGA doesn't seem to be meeting their 1-3 business days to ship out the 1080 to you once they receive your card.  They received my 980ti on 10/21 and it is now 10/28 and they still have yet to ship me my step-up card.

This is EVGA treating their customers who committed to buying one months ago like garbage. They continue to fill retail orders while feeling it's acceptable for us to wait over 4 months. I don't think a class action lawsuit would be unreasonable at this point.

Retailers of EVGA GTX 1080 cards have been offering them on sale for below MSRP for a couple months now.  Newegg.com has had the FTW on sale and the SC on sale for below MSRP several times.  This weekend the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW is on sale for $30 off.  So, its obvious that the demand has slowed down and EVGA can devote more resources to fulfilling the Step-Up customers.  Yet here we are waiting 4+ months for our GTX 1080 cards.

If I knew it was going to be over 4 months to fufill my step up request I would have sold my GTX 960 on eBay 4 months ago when I could have sold it for $20-$30 more than I can get for it now and bought a GTX 1080 at MSRP through Newegg or B&H Photo.

darktrooper84 - I'd recommend calling EVGA's support line to ask someone there about your step up status.

Depending on your motherboard, simply use the display video port until the new card arrives.

I feel your pain. In a pinch, you can pick up a very, very cheap backup card for this situation. Especially since your work depends full and uninterrupted use of your computer. I have one just for instances such as these.

Not only have some retailers offered the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW on sale for the same price as the EVGA GTX 1080 SC model or less, now some retailers have the EVGA GTX 1080 SC on sale for under $630.

I find it absurd that the sales of the EVGA 1080 cards have slowed down to the point that they have been offered below MSRP on multiple hardware retailer web sites and yet people who signed up for the step up program in May and June don't have the GTX 1080 cards yet.  I just read here about one person who signed up for Step Up in May who received his GTX 1080 yesterday.  If the demand has slowed that much that EVGA GTX 1080 cards have been offered below MSRP in September, October, and November, then EVGA should allocate more cards for the step up program to move the process along.

Can someone form EVGA please explain why the Step Up wait time is so long when the demand for the GTX 1080 cards has obviously dropped to the point that multiple retailers have sold them below MSRP?  Shouldn't the allocation for Step Up be increased if the demand has dropped to the point that the cards are selling below MSRP?

While I wholeheartedly agree with you EVGA doesn't care. They won't show us our place in queue and they won't comment about times. They excel in so many ways but this gag order they're pulling on the Step-Ups is disheartening.

I'm at just shy of 5 months now. I mentioned this in guild chat the other night. Some guy is like, "(Deleted for Foul Language) I just drove down to Best Buy and bought one a couple days ago." Cue everyone in Mumble laughing. Except this guy. I wasn't laughing.

Just to give you a reference i've been in queue since May 31 and last week was when I got an email saying pay and ship.  You may not have to wait that long but I sure as heck did.

conversely, I put in a step up for my kids PC which has a 950 and I only had to wait maybe 2 months for the email to step that card up to a 1070

I just shipped out my 980ti that I registered as soon as the 1080 was available.  Be patient, they'll get around to you soon.
